Bolnore 2-9 Furngate Vets

The first 10 minutes started slowly as we looked to find our feet. Bolnore had a few early chances, but Garik Gellan was equal to them all, pulling off some great saves to keep us level.

We soon settled into the game and started creating chances of our own, with Jeorgi, Pistol and Aaron Ageyman all going close.

The breakthrough came after Steve Pelzer won the ball brilliantly in midfield before playing a perfect pass into Pistol, who somehow managed to volley the ball into the net with his back to goal. A fantastic finish and we were finally underway at 1-0.

It wasn't long before Bolnore found a way back into the game. Despite some excellent defending from our solid back four, they managed to find a gap and toe-poke the ball home to make it 1-1.

That didn't last long. Furngate continued to play some lovely football, and Sam Tester spotted Pistol making his run. Pistol rounded the keeper and was clearly brought down for what looked like a stonewall penalty. Instead of waiting for the whistle, he jumped straight back to his feet, took it around the keeper again and calmly slotted home to restore our lead.

The first half had a few nervy moments, but it laid the perfect foundation for what was about to come.

Second Half

The gaffer gathered the lads together at half-time and explained exactly what was required in the second half. From the moment the whistle blew, the boys delivered.

Nothing but class.

Lee Henderson picked up the ball and found Sam Tester, who drove through the middle of the park before curling a superb strike around the keeper into the bottom right-hand corner to make it 3-1.

With that cushion we could breathe a little... or so we thought.

We didn't stop there.

Aaron Ageyman went on a brilliant run down the right, twisting inside and outside defenders before putting in a perfect cross for Pistol to complete his hat-trick and make it 4-1. Bolnore looked like they had completely lost their heads.

The football being played was superb. Our skipper James Davis was filling in at centre-back, completely out of position, but put in an outstanding performance alongside his vice-captain Danny Bishop, who was excellent... even if he did spend most of the game moaning about something!

Michael Joy also had a superb game, growing in confidence as the match went on. He worked tirelessly, was strong on the ball and played a huge part in keeping the team moving forward. It was a brilliant all-round performance.

Garry Vicary worked tirelessly out on the wing, using the ball well and making the right passes throughout.

Lee Henderson then slipped a lovely through ball into Aaron Ageyman, who got off the mark on his debut for the club to make it 5-1.

Bolnore looked like they wanted to go home, but Furngate certainly weren't finished.

Leon decided to take matters into his own hands, weaving his way past around five players before calmly finishing to make it 6-1, with still half an hour left to play.

Bolnore kept trying, but they simply couldn't cope with the silky football being played by the Furngate boys.

Pistol won the ball in midfield before threading a perfectly weighted pass through to Aaron Ageyman, who finished brilliantly for his second goal of the afternoon to make it 7-1.

Surely we couldn't keep this up?

Of course we could.

Pistol then turned provider, laying the ball perfectly into the path of Jeorgi, who made no mistake and calmly slotted home a well-deserved goal after another tireless performance. 8-1.

Bolnore did manage to grab a late consolation after creating a few chances, making it 8-2, but there was still time for one final moment of magic.

Straight from the restart, Lee Henderson spotted the goalkeeper off his line and unleashed an unbelievable strike from the centre spot that flew into the net. An absolute world-class finish from our bald number 6 to round off a brilliant afternoon.

Aaron Ageyman – What a debut! Two goals, an assist and a constant threat all afternoon. Another Man of the Match performance.

Every single player put in a shift and played their part in a fantastic team performance. The passing, movement, work rate and togetherness were outstanding from start to finish. A brilliant way to continue our pre-season preparations.
