Home league match played on 17 January 2015.
Kicked off at 1:30 PM

So unlucky not to get all 3 points out of Saturday but a valuable and much deserved point gained against top of the league.

The Goals...

*We broke the deadlock in the first half......corner found Carl who headed it back across to Rudd who flicked/misqueued a header into Cal who nodded in from 3 yards.

*Their lucky qualiser came in the last couple of minutes when they cut in from our left and crossed the ball for their player to head onto Mills and deflect over Pembo.

Our game planned work, we had the right players in the right positions giving it 100%. Couldn’t ask for more. Everyone was taking responsibility for themselves along with their team mates which was great to see.

I asked us to focus and 2 primary things…..defensive performance and being aggressive/bulling them. I feel we uted these brilliantly…Carl and Rudd were fcukin man-mountains in that centre and were supported by solid, hustling full back and midfield displays. Communication all over the park was much better than in previous games. We stayed tight, narrow and defended well from the front.…. Duncs, Callum and I organised quickly which gave us specific instructions on each man and gave good orders to the wide men and Wints up top.

In regards to bullying them, I tried to lead by example with a couple of “off the ball” shoulder barges and some late(ish….*eyes*) tackles which worked well as their midfield retreated like their hairlines. As asked, despite Flea screaming like a 7yr old boy getting r@ped at borstal, Wints, Mills, Duncs, Liam W, Rudd were all aggressive…..even Lardy put a tackle in and Jim called someone a “ginger c*nt” from the sidelines!! :-o

All round, some very good individual performances but still think we need to work on our fitness. Look back on your game and think about what you could improve on. Personally, I felt my final ball on a couple of occasions was affected by my fitness so need to work harder this week, training tomorrow and a couple of midweek runs/sprints. It is only the 2nd game back from Xmas so still very positive but lets use this game as a benchmark for ourselves individually and as a team.

MoM – Carl. Solid debut performance, instantly fitted in and gelled well with Rudd.

DoD – Carl. Went out early Saturday morning to buy brand new shinnies for his big debut………..then left them at home.
