Green Buffaloes Women FC travelled to Kamfinsa Ground on 4 October 2025 for a crucial league away fixture against Kamfinsa Blue Eagles Queens, kicking off at 3:00pm. In front of a crowd of 1,600, the visitors secured a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a decisive penalty goal, maintaining their strong form on the road.
Deploying a 4-3-3 formation, Green Buffaloes Women FC set up with Ngambo Musole in goal, providing a solid last line of defence. The back four consisted of Martha Banda at right back, Esther Banda and Memory Nthala as central defenders, and Diana Banda on the left flank. In midfield, Natasha Nanyangwe operated on the right wing, Joana Benaya held the central midfield role, while Evarine Katongo took up the left midfield position. Up front, the attacking trio featured Beatrice Fwamba on the right wing, Agness Phiri as the central striker, and Maweta Chilenga on the left wing. This formation was designed to balance defensive solidity with attacking width and penetration through the flanks.
On the bench, Green Buffaloes had Thanda Mokgaba, Lydia Shamalima, Racheal Nachula, and Namute Chileshe ready to make an impact if called upon.
The match began with both sides probing cautiously, but it was Green Buffaloes who were forced into an early change when Joana Benaya suffered an injury after 32 minutes. Thanda Mokgaba was introduced to replace her in central midfield, a move that did not disrupt the team's rhythm. Immediately following this substitution, Green Buffaloes were awarded a penalty, which Agness Phiri confidently converted in the 33rd minute to give her side the lead. This goal proved decisive as the teams headed into the break with Green Buffaloes holding a slender advantage.
The first half saw Green Buffaloes maintain a disciplined defensive shape, with Esther Banda and Memory Nthala effectively neutralising Kamfinsa Blue Eagles Queens’ attacking threats. Ngambo Musole was alert and commanding in goal, making several important saves to keep a clean sheet.
At half time, the score remained 1-0 in favour of Green Buffaloes, setting up a tense second period.
In the 63rd minute, Green Buffaloes made a double tactical substitution to refresh their attacking impetus and defensive stability. Lydia Shamalima replaced the goal scorer Agness Phiri up front, while Racheal Nachula came on for right back Martha Banda. These changes aimed to shore up the defence and introduce fresh legs to maintain pressure on the hosts.
Ten minutes later, in the 73rd minute, Namute Chileshe was brought on for right forward Beatrice Fwamba, injecting further energy into the attacking line as Green Buffaloes sought to protect their lead.
The closing stages of the match were marked by intense physicality, culminating in a yellow card for left forward Maweta Chilenga in the 90th minute for a bad tackle. Despite this late booking, Green Buffaloes held firm and saw out the remaining added time to secure all three points.
Ngambo Musole’s commanding presence between the sticks was instrumental in the victory, earning her the player of the match accolade. Her crucial saves and composure under pressure ensured that Kamfinsa Blue Eagles Queens were unable to find an equaliser.
In a tightly contested encounter at Kamfinsa Ground, Green Buffaloes Women FC’s tactical discipline, timely substitutions, and clinical penalty proved the difference as they claimed a vital 1-0 win away from home.
