Greenock HSFP Black 2 vs 3 Ardencaple

Decent run out for the boys tonight in a friendly against Ardencaple, a good opportunity to get some minutes in the legs before the break.

We started brightly and took the lead early on from a corner, Kieran delivering and Ben with a glancing header into the back post area. We created the better chances and probably deserved to be a couple ahead by half time, but somehow went in level.

The second half was a bit sloppy from us, lacking intent going forward, and we conceded a couple of poor goals.

Ardencaple are a stuffy side, but we know we’re capable of much more. We also made a lot of changes to get boys on the park, and losing wee Bob to injury at centre half disrupted us a bit – hopefully he’s okay.

But to the boys’ credit, we finished the game strongly and pushed to get back into it in the last 10-15 minutes, with Kieran grabbing a nice goal.

Far from our best performance, but a worthwhile game overall to round things off before a well deserved Easter break.
