Home league match played on 31 July 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

Guide Post go Goal Crazy after first half horror show. The score was only two nil at the interval, but the boys responded well to the hard words at the break, and hit 11 in the second half.

We started very slowly, and our touch + finishing near goal was dissapointing, a far cry from the excellent football on show the previous week. Their keeper made some good saves, and we could have easily found ourselves behind, Joseph had to clear off the line, and Aaron caught a very hard shot against him.

Sam was asked to bring energy to our play when he came on after 10 minutes, and he certainly did that, he set up the first goal on 14 minutes a long run and cross found Danes who's shot the keeper could only parry, and Dylan was left with a tap in. A minute later, Elliott put Sam through who took the ball on really well, and then rifled into the goal. Despite a few more chances the gallant Wolves held out. 2-0 half time. The boys were told how poor they had played, and that we needed to pass the ball a lot better in the second half.

They listened and we scored four goals in opening six minutes, Josh forcing first home after good work from Sam, Elliott then put Sam through to finish, Elliott then scored when the keeper couldnt hold his long shot, while on 26mins a low corner from Joseph was finished nicely by James.

Wolves were a threat quite a number of times at the other end, but two cracking challenges from Aaron & James kept them out, while Harry made some good clearances. Seven goals came in the last 7 minutes as the young wolves began to tire. Dane put away rebound off post, Sam then set up Josh to finish with a long throw, another fine individual goal from Sam, made it 9-0.  From a goal kick Dylan scored a great individual goal, going past a number of defenders before finishing nicely, Dylan then got another minute later, while Sam got his fourth after more good play, and to finish off Dane got a cheeky back heel finish to give a final score of 13-0.

It is always difficult to keep the form up when playing against younger opposition, and it was far from our best display, but we did knock it round well at times. Will be a lot tougher in our final match, and at the tournament next week.

Man of the match a clear winner today, great energy, good finishing and set up play, Sam was the choice. While in our first monthly award for best attitude the winner was Dane, been superb in training and on match day, fitted in ever so well, well done Sam & Dane! Who can win next months award??? We will be watching, so plenty of listening, working hard and doing your best at training and on match days.   Much credit to the young wolves who two or three very promising players, particularly the boy on the left, the keeper and one of the defenders who tried hard through out. Well done Wolves, sure you will do well against your own age group.

The league table looks as follows with one game each to play

Burradon 21points

Tynemouth Yellows 20points

Guide Post 19points

Third place is assured, but we now have to hope that Galaxy can get a result against Burradon & similary Cullercoats can do us a favour against the Yellows. It has been a good league for the boys, and but for one day when nothing went right we could have had destiny in our own hands. Lets finish off on a high and at least make the other two sides have to win, our final game is against Tynemouth Blues.
