GUIDEPOST TOO STRONG FOR THE WHITES!

Finally we had a result that matched our football of recent weeks, although in the first half we were far from our best.  Some coaching master strokes, seemed to change our fortunes!

With the wind a big strong Whites side had the better of the game, as we took a while to warm up, there was hesitancy at the back and the experiment of playing 2-2-2, just really wasn't coming off. Despite the general dominance in the middle of the park the Whites really didn't put much pressure on Aarons goal. Noticing the formation wasn't working, we switched to our more familiar 2-3-1 with Dane coming on for Josh on ten minutes. We were now in the game and a couple of minutes later after a good run Dylan was fouled in the area. After a long delay, Dylan hit the penalty with pace and power, but the ball just went wide.   Harry struggling with new position of left midfield was then swapped with Sam, and this provided us with much greater energy up front. (Good decision Jamie!) A couple of minutes later the ball was crossed in from Sam unmarked five yards out, but just rushed the shot a little. End of first half 0-0

Second half asked for our wider players to play a little narrower, and they did this with Sam & Dane causing the whites lots of problems. After great work by Dane, Dylan then tee'd Sam up just outside the area and he got a superb low hard shot away which rifled into bottom left corner. Super strike Sam!!!  The smiles were there now for the boys and they started to enjoy themselves with some lovely passing football, a shot was blocked by the keeper but Dane was on hand to put the ball away, good fox in the box type goal again Dane!  We now were much the stronger side, and any problems at the back were dealt with strongly by Harry, James & Aaron.

Josh came on for Dylan on 25 minutes, and he took on where Dylan had left off by playing some lovely passing football in the striker position. The ball was crossed in from Sam then the ball was hit against the post, but Josh played it out to Elliott on the left who got plenty of hight on the ball and sailed into the top corner. Super strike Elliott, after great team football. It was a really tough choice for who to bring off for the last sub, with Sam the unlucky player making way for Joseph on 35 mins. A long Elliott ball was unfortunately for the Whites handled in the area, and this time Joseph was given the responsibility of taking the penalty.

With the pressure on, Joseph struck it sweetly into the bottom left corner giving the keeper no chance, lovely penalty Joseph. We stuck to the task at the back and just as pleasing as the goals was to get a clean sheet!  Super last twenty minutes, where our finishing finally matched our approach play!  It was great to see so many SMILING faces at the end, well done boys.  The whole team given joint MOM.

Aaron good hands & Kicking, James excellent reading of the game no nonsence defending, Harry great clearances, Dane back to best real good energy and strong running,  Sam gave us that lift in midfield super goal, Elliott continuing great form, Josh fantastic link up play, Dylan didn't let head go down, and played some good team football, last but not least Joseph got stuck in and finally got us a goal from a penalty!

See you all Wednesday 5.45 for training!
