Guide Post go down with heads held high!.

Despite the scoreling this was actually a better performance than the win in mid week, against one of the top sides in NMSL we gave 100%, and with a bit more BELIEF we could have given a very strong Walker side even more of a game.

The difference between the sides was Walkers desire and strength to win every 50 - 50 ball.  The boys need to believe that they are good, and be that little bit stronger and quicker into the tackle.  No doubting the work rate, and they didn't let their heads go down even at three down, so that was pleasing to see.

Walker started with pace and energy, and had the better of the game, Harry & James were doing well at the back. On five minutes a lovely through ball for the tricky striker who blasted it past Aaron, a great finish. Walker then had a few long range opportunites, which Aaron managed to deal with. As the game went on, we did start to put a bit of pressure on, and a couple of half chances fell to Sam from corners but the ball just went wide. End of 1st. 1-0

Second quarter and again Walker generally had the better of the play, but Elliott, Harry & James worked hard to limit the chances to generally long shots on to Aarons goal, Aaron making a couple of good saves.  On 18 minutes Sam looked to be away on goal, but a super block from the Walker defender cleared the danger. End of 2n 1-0.

Started the third well, and it was more of an even game, good work from Elliott, led to Sam shooting, and this was just deflected away. A couple of minutes later Elliott tested the keeper with a long range effort.  Walker were a a constant threat at the other end, with Aaron again having to save quite a number of long range poweful efforts. A long Aaron kick on 34 minutes nearly caught out the Walker keeper but just got it away to safety.  Second gaol though came on the break, our midfield caught out and they broke down their right, a shot was then parried, and the Walker player took his time and showed great composure just to beat James at the near post. End of third 2-0.

Fourth quarter, and again we generally restricted Walker to a lot of long range shots, this is where they got their third goal. A long range shot was blocked by Elliott outside the area but the ball looped up and over Aarons head. An unlucky goal, just one of those things. But rather than feel sorry for ourselves, we actually dug in and battled to the whistle. Josh following on from Dane was working hard up front, and got his reward with 5 minutes to go, a low shot coming off the Walker defender and going into the bottom left corner. We now began to press a bit more, and Walker had to scramble a number of times.  Final Score 3-1.

A creditable display with plenty of plus points, running a tough side close. James & Harry were superb at the back, while Elliott worked tirelessly in central midfield and got the opposition coach's MOM award, which I agreed with, so nice one Elliott, keep up the hard work next week, one point to note though, don't get down hearted if something goes against you, i,e with the third goal, dust your self down, and come back fighting!

Well done lads, training Wednesday 5.45!
