Away tournament match played on 07 August 2010.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

SO PROUD OF ALL THE BOYS!

What a geat effort from every player, to go so close and then lose out on the lottery that is penalties in the semi final.  We played in 7 games, and went unbeaten all day and only conceded one goal all tournament.

Will give a quick run down of the games

Guide Post 2 Wideopen 0 - Goals Dylan, Sam - MOM Sam

Guide Post got off to a strong start against a tough Wideopen side, Dylan scoring the first goal after good work from Elliott. Wideopen fought hard , but we hit them on the break to get the second, a long kick from Aaron found Sam, and he managed to guide the ball round the keeper.

Cullercoats Blacks 0 v Guide Post 1 - Goal - Dane - MOM Elliott

We got out of jail in this game, all credit to Cullercoats who generally had the better of the game, but we broke away and Elliott set up goal machine Dane to get the winning goal.

Longbenton 0 Guide Post 1 - Goal Dane - MOM Dylan

This was another really tough game, but we had much the better chances, Elliott hitting the bar with a cracking shot, while the keeper had to make great saves from Elliott  & Dylan. We played some lovely passing football in this match. The goal was a result of lots of practice in training, a super high corner from Joseph was headed with power right accross the keeper by Dane superb goal.  Dylan had great game in central midfield.

Guide Post 0 Forrest Hall 0 - MOM Aaron & Joseph

Against the winners of the winter league, we more than matched them with our hard  work and good passing.  The defence played well in this game, Aaron making some cracking saves. While their keeper had to make a great save from a super shot from Sam.

KYPC Galaxy 0 Guide Post 0  - MOM Harry

Against a tough KYPC side, we battled hard and rued a couple of missed chances. At the back Harry was excellent.

Newcastle East End A 1 - Guide Post 1 - MOM Aaron

This was the crunch game of the league stage, a defeat and we would have been out, but against a classy East End side again we battled hard, and should have saw the game out. East End started strongly and Aaron made a great save or two, but second half, after pass from Elliott, Dylan had a lot to do, but he beat the defender and then finished cooly, great goal.  At the back we worked so hard, just couldnt quite clear with a minute to go, and the East end striker finished hard and well at the near post.  But for that goal we would have topped the group.

End of group stage - 1st Forrest Hall 2nd Guide Post 3rd Newcastle East End

Semi Final - Swalwell 0 Guide Post 0 - (3-2 penalties) - MOM Elliott

Aginst the run away winners of the other group, we stuck to the task ever so well, everyone of the lads put their bodies on the line, and we had a couple of chances at the other end, incuding a penalty shout. Finished 0-0 after 10 minutes, Five minutes of extra time could not find a winner either, so proud of our effort.

We were 2 -1 up in the penalty shoot out but some bad luck in the end cost us, as  the lottery of penalties went against us. We win and lose as a side, and just one of those things ALL OF YOU HOLD YOUR HEADS HIGH & FEEL MIGHTY PROUD

Tournament MOM - Elliott

Could not fault any of the boys today, you were all fantastic!

Aaron great saves, clearances, and good kicking from hands.

Harry - Great clearances, strong in the tackle,

Joseph - With James missing he took up the lead defender position, excellently, brave all day long, great challenges, super goal kicks.

Josh - Much stronger in the tackle!! Had another good day to go with his excellent Sumer League form.

Sam - Ran his heart out all day, asked to play in defence a couple of times and did superb there, showed great character.

Dylan - Worked very hard, great game in midfield, super finish in the vital league game, really strong tournament.

Dane - A couple of goals to take him to top of the charts with just a few games to go, battled hard, passed well.

Elliott - Thought the skipper was strong in every game, and led by example is tracking back through the tournament was so impressive, top effort Elliott, you should be so proud of yourself and the team you captain!

Very close decision for Player of the tournament but just edging it for me was Elliott, but with everyone not far behind.  It was so tough having to make decisions on substitutes all day, rest assured come the league season, everyone will get plenty of game time, because I have every confidence in all 9 boys in our squad.

No training Wednesday - Match Thursday. WELL DONE ALL
