Away league match played on 10 April 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 PM

On a beautiful day at Complete Football, we found our shooting boots, putting in fifteen against a gallant U7 Ospreys side.  All credit to the Ospreys and their coach's they never let their heads go down and played the game in tremendous spirit, I am sure they will do well next season.

In the first quarter we were a bit hesitant, and didn't keep our shape as well as we should have done. Two goals came in the quarter, first one Elliott made a good run down the left and put in a lovely ball for Sam to put into the right corner of the net. After this Elliott struck a couple of shots just wide of the right hand post, and Josh also just hit a shot wide.  Second goal on 7 minutes, was after a rare attack from the Ospreys, Harry took the ball out of defence and put in a super long pass for Sam, who controlled nicely and put the ball away. Sam went close to his third but the keeper did well. End of first quarter 2-0

Second quarter and the boys took on board some of our comments, with some better passing and movement in the quarter. As well as the four goals, will quickly run through the near misses, Josh went close with good strike, then Elliott from his own half hit the Ospreys post, Harry also hit the post, and then Elliott once again hit the post. Right to the goals, third was well taken by Joseph, the ball came to him in the area, and he managed to make space and put a nice shot away.  Fourth goal was a very good individual effort from Elliott, making a good run bearing a couple of defenders and confidently beating the keeper.  Sam got the next, again good individual run and lovely finish, this gave Sam his hat-trick. Last goal of the quarter, and probably the most pleasing of the day as coach, the ball was passed one touch by Joseph, Josh, Sam and then through to Elliott to put in from close range.  End of the second quarter 6-0.

Third quarter, and James who was having a superb game at the back, won the ball on the edge of his own area, went on a great long run, and put in a perfect pass for Elliott to finish nicely.  The most spectacular goal of the day came next, a pass back to Josh who hit a stunning strike into the top corner from distance, a lovely goal Josh. For the ninth, Harry again was the provider, passing nicely for Elliott to finish with precision.  End of the third quarter 9-0.

In the final quarter, swapped James with Sam, to give James a run up front.  Once he realised that he was playing striker James had a good chance straight away, but went wide. A minute later he made no mistake, in a crowded are I think it was Joseph who passed through for James to hit the ball sweetly into the goal. Elliott then set up Joseph, who put the ball away comfortably.  Pen was now running out of ink, but Harry got no.12 with a shot from inside the box.  For the 13th Elliott was fouled just inside the Ospreys half, the skipper got up and hit a sweet effort to go in off the left hand post.  For the next one it was back to provider for Elliott, a good corner was deflected accoss for Harry to bundle the ball over the line. For the last goal of the game, the keeper miss-kicked and the ball came to James just outside the box, who took his time and calmly passed the ball into the net. Final score 15-0.

After a slow start we did play some really nice football, and everyone contributed well to the win, with Aaron doing everything that was asked of him. Two players who stood out well today were James & Harry, reading the game excellently and passing very well, superb effort.  Just shading it for the man of the match award is James who was back to his very best, well done James! All the boys did well!  We have our final league game of the season tomorrow, and a win will secure second place finish. So lets give it 100% and finish the season on a high.
