Away tournament match played on 05 June 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

We had a great day out at Blaydon, a really well run tournament with an excellent standard of refereeing, and some wonderfully sporting opposition.

We won 3, drew 4 and lost only a couple so was a very impressive show considering we only had seven players on a very hot day and on very big pitch's.

So will run through the games

Against strong opposition we put in a very good showing, Harry & James excellent at the back, with Sam hitting the post at the other end.

MOM - Harry

Sam had too much pace for the Rockets in this one, after going close early on, he scored two fine goals. Aaron made a great save and set up one of Sams goals with a long kick.

MOM - Sam & Aaron

Again another good draw against a lovely passing side, the defence and Aaron coming to the rescue on a number of occasions.

We had slightly the better of this encounter but just couldn't beat the keeper, Josh made a number of strong runs and went close to scoring.

We generally dominated this game, with Joseph in charge of the midfield area, Sam got the first goal with great finish after a great through ball from Joseph.  Sam's second came when he pounced on a goal kick and again finished well.

MOM - Joseph & Sam

Beamish Blues 3 v Guide Post 0

Lack of subs, and tiredness really hit home in this game, against an outstanding Beamish side.  They looked up there with Wallsend as the best side we've ever come up against. Aaron was unlucky to be beaten three times, making some great saves.

MOM - Aaron

Guide Post 0 Whickham Fellside 3

This was an unfair reflection of the game, as we did have a number of chances, they though hit us fast on the break, and despite the best efforts of the defence we were unable to keep them out.  Our midfield needed to help the defence out a lot better.

MOM - James & Harry

After two tough match's the boys didnt let their heads drop, and got back to winning ways with a superb team performance. Jack having his best game of the tournament and only being denied a goal by a good save from keeper. Sam got the first goal, again using his pace to break through and finish well. Second goal was a cracker, josh getting the ball on edge of area, cutting in past a defender and smashing the ball into the top corner.

MOM - Jack & Josh

Finished like we started with a battling peformance against one of the hosting clubs sides.  This was an end to end game with chances falling for both sides, Aaron & James were superb to keep them out.

MOM - James

SUMMARY

Great showing by the boys, really proud of them all.  Many candidates for player of the tournament, but was very impressed by Sam up front getting five goals, midfield combined well, and all the boys at the back were strong, but for 7 clean sheets, some great saves and blocks, and some good kicking, just beating the rest was Aaron, back to his very best.

With players to come back into the side for Tuesday, we go into our game v Bedlington in good shape, and we look forward to the challenge.
