Away league match played on 18 October 2009.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

What a turn round in performance and attitude from yesterday, tremendous team spirt, and excellent play.  We talked with the boys before the start, and it was a great response couldnt have asked for any better.  Every single player was excellent, well done lads.

Started the game on fire, with Harry, Elliott & Joseph combining really well as an attacking force.  Very early on Harry went close after good link up play.  Couple of minutes later we took the lead, Elliott passing to Harry who finished superbly to give us a 1-0 lead.  At the back we looked strong, with an experimental line up of Sam & Josh playing left and right back, with James in the middle.  Our second goal came before the break, a speculative effort from Elliott managed to sneak through the keepers hands, well done Elliott always worth having a go.  End of 1st 1/4 2-0 lead.

Second quarter it was an end to end game, with us going close on a number of occasions, then came the first of a couple of vital referee calls, Sam appeared to be fouled but the decision was given the other way, from the free kick Aaron looked to have got the ball on the line, but the Blyth player managed to sneak the ball over the line after challenging Aaron.  This was right on the half time  Blyth 1 Guide Post 2.

With this boost Blyth came out firing in the third and played some excellent football, and they scored two very quick goals, to go into the lead.  Bur rather than let this effect us we stook to the task well, and Elliott finished nicely to make things level at 3-3.  Then came the second telling decision a bouncing ball in our area was handled by the Blyth player who subsequently finished nicely.  This then gave a 4-3 scoreline at the end of the 3rd quarter.

In the final quarter again we stook to the task, and showed the fighting spirit required against the good sides.  Some excellent football on show from both sides, the game played in an excellent team spirit, both teams going close on a number of occasions, but Ethan on as sub played excellently to keep Blyth out.  Whille at the other end we put away a very well worked goal. An excellent whipped in long range free kick from Elliott, was skillfully guided in by Joseph on the half volley with his LEFT foot, great teamwork boys.   There was still time for both sides to get the fifth but both teams held out for a fitting draw.  Game was played in excellent spirit and high praise to Blyth for their lovely passing football and sporting attitude.

Great work Guide Post, Elliott got the official Man of Match from the Blyth Coaching team, but as we said to the whole squad for their great attitude we think everyone in our side deserved a man of match award.

Big shout out to Josh today for his play in defence after a tough start to the league season,  playing in an unfamiliar position your reading of the game and battling spirt was first class, as all the coaches told you that was your best display of the season, keep it up!  Similarly Sam was superb again playing in unfamiliar role, nice one Sam.  James was strong and reliable as ever, the rock of our defence.  Aaron despite getting hurt for their first goal battled through the pain barrier and as ever showed a great attitude. Ethan coming on in the final quarter made some telling tackles and interceptions.

Up front Harry was outstanding once again, composure on the ball and work rate were fantastic.  While Elliott was back to his very best, involved in every goal and generally bossing the midfield area.  Joseph similarly was back to excellent form, tacking and passing really well.  Liam also did well when coming on, controlling the ball nicely.

Training Tuesday 5pm Pegswood anyone need a lift please let me know!
