Away friendly match played on 29 May 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

First of all, thanks to our hosts Blyth Town Green for inviting us, and to the referee who had a great game.

It was very much a scratch side we put out, with a few of the boys having not played together, so some of the passing football was most enjoyable. Was really pleased with all the contributions, and even though the Greens keeper made a couple of mistakes he also saved quite a number of hard shots. James was Captain today, and will be for the next few games, this is a reward for Jame's hard work, he has consistantly shown a first class attitude in games and in training!

First quarter and we were pretty much on top with Aaron, having an easy time of it in goal, Joseph in particular showed what he's capable of, bossing the central midfield area, while out on the left Josh was excellent and Cameron on the right made it a very strong midfield unit.  All three testing the keeper at regular intervals with a free kick just going wide. We got the goal our play deserved on 8 minutes when Cameron pounced on the throw out and beat the keeper nicely.  End of first quarter 1-0

Second quarter and we switched off for a second, and they took advantage and finished well from 6 yards. This spurred the Greens on and they were now having the better of the play, only some fine work from our new defensive pairing of James and Harry, backed up by Aaron kept us in the game. So honours were even at half time.

Third quarter Cameron had a good run, and his cross was unfortunately for the Greens keeper fumbled into the net.  We were now playing some nice combination football, and Josh had a couple of strong shots and only some fine keeping kept him out. While Joseph and Cameron also went close on a number of occasions, end of the third 2-1.  At the back Harry and James were playing really well together.

Start of the fourth and we got the rewards for our strong play, Joseph knocking a bouncing ball for Cameron to run on to and he just managed to get to ball before the keeper, then kept his composure to place ball into net. Minute later Jack playing in midfield put in a nice short pass for Josh, and despite it being far from his best strike of the day it managed this time to beat the Greens keeper. Always worth a go Josh, you had a super game today! Jack just a minute earlier had made a super defensive clearance in his own box. Our new defensive unit, made probably their only mistake of the game, both chasing the same ball, and Greens playing the through ball for the striker to finish nicely. Our last goal was the best worked some nice passing between Joseph and Josh then a lovely cross ball for Cameron to finish nicely.

An encouraging display, especially as two of our regulars were missing! The passing and movement from the boys, was very good . While Harry & James, showed the potential of being a strong and stable defensive partnership!  Good displays all round, but seeing as it was only his second game, and in a new position, thought Harry was superb and he wins the man of the match awayrd, he got his foot into the tackle well, got his head on to the ball time and time again, showed good skill and passed well. But most of all it was a good all round team performance, Well done lads lets keep it going on Wednesday when we travel to Morpeth Tigers.
