On 15 September 2026, Hayden Panthers hosted Hayden Hawks U17 at the Hayden Youth Association ground for an 80-minute friendly kick-off at 6:15pm. The match concluded with the visiting Hawks securing a commanding 3-0 victory over the Panthers in a contest that saw early dominance from the visitors.

Hayden Panthers lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, aiming to balance defensive solidity with attacking support. Louie Ford took his place between the sticks as goalkeeper, protected by a back four comprising Angelos Tsimaras at right back, Sid Hale and Alfie Blazeby as central defenders, and Tyler Cracknell on the left flank. In midfield, Josh Jolly and Sid Reed operated as the double pivot, tasked with breaking up play and distributing the ball effectively. Ahead of them, Archie Bristo occupied the right attacking midfield role, Aston Hawgood played centrally behind the striker, and Ethan Dowland took up the left attacking midfield position. Leading the line was Darcey Illing as the lone striker, expected to spearhead attacks and convert chances. Cherry and Thomas were named as substitutes

From the outset, the Hawks imposed themselves on the game, and it was clear the Panthers were under pressure. Just four minutes into the match, the visitors struck the opening goal, unsettling the home side and forcing them to chase the game early on. Despite attempts to regain composure, the Panthers found themselves breached again in the 19th minute as the Hawks doubled their advantage, capitalising on defensive lapses and clinical finishing.

The Hawks continued their relentless approach, and before the half-hour mark, they added a third goal in the 27th minute. This early triple strike left the Panthers with a mountain to climb, and the remainder of the first half saw them struggle to create meaningful opportunities. The half-time whistle arrived at 40 minutes with the scoreline firmly in favour of the visitors.

Throughout the match, Hayden Panthers’ midfield duo of Jolly and Reed worked tirelessly to stem the flow of the Hawks’ attacks, but the visitors’ attacking threat proved too potent. The wide players, Bristo and Dowland, attempted to provide service to Illing upfront, but the Panthers’ forward line was largely kept quiet by a disciplined Hawks defence. Defensively, Tsimaras and Cracknell endeavoured to contain the Hawks’ wingers, while Hale and Blazeby sought to maintain organisation at the back, though the early goals had already set the tone.

Despite the lack of goals or a comeback, the Panthers showed resilience in the latter stages, aiming to tighten up and prevent further damage. However, the Hawks maintained control and saw out the remainder of the match comfortably.

In summary, the Hayden Hawks U17’s clinical finishing and early dominance secured a convincing 3-0 victory over the Hayden Panthers in this friendly encounter at the Hayden Youth Association. The Panthers will look to regroup and build on this experience as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.
