Home league match played on 21 August 2013.
Kicked off at 6:30 PM

The first half got underway with Smithy trying new formation of 352 to try and change the fortunes of recent results but in the early minutes Smithy struggled to keep shape and Nunthorpe applied the pressure and in the 10th minute nunthorpe had there break through , Liam Bedford gave away a free kick from just inside the Smithy half near the side line and it was curled high and towards the rear post when a Nunthorpe attacker charged the on coming ball to nod in to make the score line 0-1.

After the conceded Smithy seemed to get to grips with the formation and started performing well good movement from the midfield with Denny Alderson looking most dangerous with energetic runs from deep seemed to keep Nunthorpe on the back foot for the majority of the 1st half.

The Smithy best chance came when Joseph McKenna linked up with Denny Alderson down the left the Alderson went on to dribble to the byline crossing to the back post for the on coming Lee Carr to glance a header out wide .

Denny Alderson got himself booked after losing possession in the Nunthorpe box and what seemed to be a fair tackle was seen as dangerous play by the ref in the 41st minute.

Again Smithy started the 2nd half slow and when nunthorpe played the ball over the top the back line was caught out when former captain David John played on side Nunthorpe left winger for him to swing the ball to the far post for the on coming striker to header on to the right post and in to make it 0-2 in the 48th minute.

Smithy seemed to compose themselves and playing the better football almost got back into the game when Dan Farnaby picked up the ball on the edge of the left hand side of the box cutting inside dribbling inside the D and striking a ferocious shot onto the cross bar .

Couple of subsitutions around 60th minute seemed to galvanise the side with Anthony Biswas coming on for winger Joseph McKenna on the left and Debutant Junior Masandi coming on for striker Lee Carr.

Just as the subsitutions were made Captain David Campbell picked up a booking for a mis timed challenge in the 60th.

5 minutes later Smithy had Nunthorpe well pinned back and when a probing cross from Biswas was cleared and collected deep on the left by Alex Brown for him to cross to the far post for Junior Masandi to nod in the equaliser against his former team 1-2 65th minute.

Matty Mckenna came close to equalising with a header from a corner for his effort to be cleared be the rear post gaurding defender and Dave Campbell and Fanarby coming close moments later but still Nunthorpe held on.

In the 77 minute Richard May came on for the hard working right winger Liam Bedford .

In the 85th minute Smithy seemed to get a well worked equaliser when Campbell played a through ball into the path of Denny Alderson and the young man finished superbly only for the linesman to wrongly blow offside . this seemed to deflate the Smithy in the remaining mins and it finished 1-2 to Nunthorpe and the run continues .

Mentions for Denny Alderson and Alex Brown but Captain Dave Campbell had a honest performane in the heart of midfield to take man of the match.
