Away league match played on 23 June 2012.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Once again the team started really brightly creating numerous chances and were slightly unfortunate to go a goal down against the run of play, Waterloo got a corner and it was whipped in with pace and went straight in the top corner giving Liam no chance.

Heads didn't drop though and quickly Heyside got back into the game with Billy carrying the ball down the left wing he cut inside and unleashed a lightning strike which the goalie parried, Connel was the first to react to the rebound and smashed the ball home which was fully deserved.

Chances came at both ends with both keepers making stunning saves...unluckily for Heyside Waterloo made one of there chances count going in at half time 2-1 to the good.

The lads could be proud of there efforts against the best team that they have faced so far in the summer league and were told to try and keep the same level of performance in the second half.

Again Heyside got off to a good start making Waterloo work hard and eventually it paid off with a long range srtike from Kingy catching Waterloos keeper by suprise to make it 2-2.

Waterloo then started to up the tempo but Hayden Josh and Kingy stayed solid and repelled anything that came at them.

Then suddenly after making a few changes to give some of the lads a rest it suddenly went wrong and within an 11 minute blitz the game had become 6-2 to waterloo..heads had dropped and some of the team were not putting in the effort that was required...the blame can lie solely on myself for making the changes when we were the better team at the time, and by doing this it let the team down as a whole...apologies to Dave and all the supporters who came today.

The scoreline was very harsh today and for 40 minutes we were well in the game but Waterloo are a very good team and a strong one at that and punished us in the second half for wanting the ball more than some of our team did.

Liam Brown - Had to stand in as keeper today but faultless for any of the goals, back to defensive duties next week.

Hayden Smith - What a great asset to have in the team, ran himself into the ground and didn't deserve to be on the losing side.

Josh O'Neil - Brave display and made some brilliant tackles when it mattered can hold his head up high today.

Josh King - Scored a long range strike and gave his all in defence well done against a very pacey winger.

Luke Casey - Worked well in the midfield and some good passing set up plenty of attacks in the first half.

Adam Ford - Played in a more central position and linked play very well, unlucky not to score with a header in the second half.

Billy Joyce - Gave the full back a torrid time and was a bundle of energy all game his effort created the first goal.

Connel Mallon - Was in the right place to knock in the rebound for the first goal and played well.

Alex Williams - Got in good positions but had to be quicker with his passing and was always closed down when in possesion.

Jayden Elson - Tried his best but slow to react when put through on goal in the second half.

Jack Dowd - Put on the wing but looked a bit lost against bigger opposition.

Connor Knowles - Held the ball up well but needs to put that bit more in against better players.

A team can only be good when everyone puts in a shift, not everybody did this today, the ones who did can call themselves unlucky to be on a bit of an unjust scoreline, others need to take a look at themselves and ask was it good enough and did I do enough for the team ? Only they can answer that.

Top of the league comes next and on the first half showing we can give them a game next week,so effort and commitment is all we ask for hopefully thats what we can give them and not go hiding in games when the going gets tough...see you all at training Wednesday.
