Too Little Too Late!!!

Another defeat for Heyside B as Mossley came out on top by 2 goals to 1 at Wright Robinson Sports College today. Faults highlighted in last weeks defeat to Clayton were repeated again as teamwork took a back seat as some players continue to play for themselves. This needs to improve quickly or there is a real danger of the season ending in disappointment!!!

The only highlight of a dismal first half display was that the referee gave me a flag to wave for throw ins!!! (That fell to bits much like our positional play!)

Credit to Mossley as they looked a far better team than in our previous two meetings but I know that if we keep it simple and pass the ball we are more than a match for any team we come up against.

Two poor goals conceded left Heyside with a mountain to climb in the second half and in a similar fashion to last week the boys to their credit finished the stronger of the sides.

Jack got on the score sheet to set up a tense final few minutes but Mossley held on to clinch victory. ( Good job the shot went in Jack because from that position a cross should have been sent over).

Positives today were a couple of great saves from George and good work again from Lennon and Joel. Ryan also showed up well as did Matty who like Ryan, when he does get the ball, sets a fine example in getting his head up and looking to bring his team mates into the game. Aaron again worked hard and demonstrates a will to win that the others need to follow. There was good skill from Louis at times and non stop effort as usual from Jack but both can bring so much more to the team.

It’s the cup semi next week against Withington who did us a favour today by winning both games against Clayton to move into second place 5 points behind us. As they still have 2 games to play against us they have also put themselves right back in the mix for the title so come on lads let’s get back to winning ways.

MOM:  Aaron took the award today for a good display but again as with the others sometimes overdid it when a pass was the best option.
