Hobgoblin FC 10 vs 3 Rottingdean Village Reserv

<p>This time the farmyard pitches couldn't stop the 'Goblin playing their own game as the team marched on to cap a good performance with 10 goals. <p>Debutant Rob Brown slotted into the side easier than a cold foot in a warm sock, and from the get-go the Goblins looked good to open the scoring, though it took it's sweet time. The Rottingdean's goal took more shots than a cheap lads holiday in Magaluf. But when it came, what a strike... Some neat possession play from the midfield created a bit of space on the right side of the pitch, and the ball was passed to Henry. Everyone was expecting a pass down the channel to Dieter, but instead, cut inside, pulled out his never seen before left foot, and curled a left foot shot 30 yards into the top corner. Take a bow, son. 1-0 <p>That strike seemed to be the key that opened the floodgates as another 3 goals followed in the next 13 minutes. <p>Sustained pressure brought about a corner which was expertly delivered onto Jay Mitchell's forehead to add another goal for the defender this season. 2-0 <p>Dale Robins opened his account after a long ball from Kyle dropped perfectly into his path, tucking it into the bottom corner. 3-0 <p>His legs were giving up to injury but not before his final contribution of the game. Hobbie Stuart floated the ball diagonally across and over the back four for another chance to spank it past their - now rather upset - 'keeper. 4-0 <p>&nbsp; <p>Overall a very positive first half. Communication was good, attitude was better, and the finishing was getting more consistent. More of the same, please. <p>&nbsp; <p>The second half began with a change, Ata Dogramaci on for Dale, and only a few minutes after discussing how important it was not be complacent, we were left on our heels a little, and their forward took advantage. 47 mins on the clock. 4-1 <p>It took a few moments to pull our game back again, but when it reappeared we were back to our passing best. Neat triangles between Razavi, Rob and Hobbie. Good link up between Bemi and Kyle, and Henry and Dieter.&nbsp; <p>In the 55th min, Razavi carried the ball through their midfield and dummying a pass to Rob on the right, played in Dieter on the left, who finished well at the second attempt. 5-1 <p>5 mins later, Rob got his debut goal with a clinical finish from inside the area into the top right hand corner. 6-1 <p>&nbsp; <p>The opposition were reduced to 10 men shortly after, as a moment of madness had their player threaten the ref. But by all accounts there's not one person on the pitch that didn't call it from the first minute. That guy had the sort of cross-eyed maniac look you see on the South American prisoners in Ross Kemp's TV programs. <p>&nbsp; <p>Another succession of goals came, with Hobbie adding his own to a list of assists in the 75th min, and then Rob went on to complete his hat-trick with two quick goals. 9-1 <p>Amazingly Rottingdean - who had almost given up - managed to get another two goals back either side of another strike from Hobbie as we communally hit the off switch on our concentration. This is something which crops up at some point each week which needs to be ironed out. 10-3 <p>In the final minutes of the game, to add to what is quite a hefty list of suspensions, they had another player sent off as he deliberately stopped a goal with his hand, and a penalty was awarded. <p>Up from the back came Jay Mitchell, with a confident swagger that just screamed 'I can't miss'...&nbsp; <p>&nbsp; <p>...The score remained 10-3... <p>&nbsp; <p>Overall a much needed win for the 'Gob with some memorable contributions, from Henry's screamer, to Bemi's actual scream. Some periods were absolutely brilliant, especially the way we created space to allow a pass when under pressure, considering the dire state of these pitches we're expected to play on. We worked hard and a few shouting matches aside, the attitude as a team was superb. 3 points under our belts, and on to a cup tie against Midway next week. <p>&nbsp; <p>UP THE GOB!
