Hobgoblin FC 15 vs 2 Deans Dynamos

<p>The season has finally started. <p>In a game that could have been labelled a must win after three defeats, an injury hit team switched their normal boots for scoring ones with two players taking home a match ball after scoring 6 each. <p>Before the game the pre-match preparation quickened the heartbeats and focused the minds to good effect, especially with the opposition arriving late for kick off. It was obvious that each player knew what had to be done to get the team back on track.&nbsp; <p>Within 6 minutes, the name of the first scorer of the day was in the book. After all the early possession, the ball fell to Hobbie Stuart who switched the ball from left to right foot, and with the inside of his foot aimed with power to the bottom right of the 'keeper. Exactly the type of finish we worked on at training. Great start. 1-0 <p>In a rare moment of possession from Deans Dynamos, their forwards were tackled by Cooper, who lingered on the ball a fraction too long, was dispossed, and a good finish from their striker, slotting it past Wes who was given no chance, evening the score. 1-1 <p>That proved to be the light that sparked the fire under the purple and white arses, as the heavens opened and it started to rain goals. <p>Four minutes later, Dale Robins opened his account for the afternoon after a delightful through-ball from Sonny Ball split the defence, and rounded the 'keeper to finish comfortably. 2-1 <p>120 seconds after the restart Hobbie put another goal in his pocket after an excellent team move. Dale carried the ball down the right, spotted Dieter at the back post and launched a pinpoint cross, nodded down into the path of Hobbie who showed he had bigger cahoonas than the Dynamos goalie, tapping the ball past into the net. 3-1 <p>After 35mins, a similar goal led to Hobbie's first hat-trick in his first season. This time the long pass from Charlie Bingham, Dieter Haslam collecting and again onto Hobbie. 4-1 <p>The next 4 minutes showed that we can mix the style of play when it suits, as two goals from Dale in as many minutes, both from a long pass from Jay Mitchell, followed almost immediately by a long ball from Wes brushed off the defender and invited Dieter to the party, who finished at the second attempt.&nbsp; <p>Half time. 7-1. Traces of a smile from the managers? No - just a twitchy face. <p>Fraser Ball on for the injured Scott Knight. <p>It took another quarter of an hour for the next goal, but it was worth waiting for. Henry Dearlove saw that the door was left open, and walked in, bringing some quick passing between his fellow trespasser Hobbie with him. Some great interplay tee'd up his right foot strike, up into the nearside top corner. Bosh. 8-1 <p>Dale was dishing out even more damage to the Dynamos goal difference a few minutes later. A long cross-field pass from Cooper to Henry, who set up Hobbie for a shot with the 'keeper only managing to parry it on to Dale, who won't score an easier one this season. 9-1 <p>Charlie Everton Bingham, a very big Liverpool supporter, decided he wasn't happy letting the other kids play, got himself on the score sheet with a low powerful strike appearing to go through at least 3 players including the goalie. 10-1 <p>Then came what can only be described as a completely mental 15 minutes, which I'm still struggling to understand even now. It was like everyone suddenly became solo artists and decided to fall out with every other band member. Players were shouting at each other, telling each other off and then firing off some other back chat. I have never seen anything like it, and we sure as hell won't see anything like it again. It was like an episode of Ricki Lake. Very disappointing to see, especially considering the margin we were winning by.&nbsp; <p>This period of individual madness probably led to their second goal of the afternoon, after a scrappy goalmouth scramble enabled one of their players to poke the ball into our goal in the 75th minute. 10-2 <p>The next 5 goals came in such quick succession that I hardly even had time to finish writing who scored the goal prior. <p>Hobbie and Henry again showing some good work down the right hand side resulting in Hobbie's 4th of the day; 11-2 <p>Hobbie again, less than 60 seconds later! 12-2 <p>Dale, not to be outdone on the match report spanked it from 18yds - too hot to handle for the goalie; 13-2 <p>Dale, one on one with the 'keeper, rounding off his 6th of the afternoon in the 88th minute, and just as the opposition were screaming at the ref to put them out of their misery, Hobbie costs me another match ball by equalling Dale with his 6th. <p>15-2. Goodnight. Thanks for coming... <p>&nbsp; <p>So in summary, a performance that showed the rest of the league that we are now taking this seriously. Kyle Carnochan showing just how serious with some needed physicality. A positive result that was very nearly hindered by some unnecessary arguments in the second half. We have to remember we are all wearing the same shirts, we all want the same thing. If there is criticism to be had, let's make sure it's constructive eh? <p>Match balls go to Dale and Hobbie.
