Home friendly match played on 25 October 2014.
Kicked off at 5:00 PM

A good turnout as usual and we have a longer than normal pre-game warm-up as the opponents were late. Pre-game talk was to play simple football, minimise unforced errors like misplaced passes, keeping shape, play to feet with basic passes and to return pass whenever we are closed down. From the kick off, we managed to string more than 10 passes together ending with a shot at goal. This was repeated throughout the game and what a joy it was to watch from the touchlines.

The first goal came after some nice team work with the ball finding Harold’s feet whom swiftly turned and slotted into the corner. 1-0 to incepcion.

We continued to play as a team and after some chasing and harassing of defenders typical of Henry, he managed to distract them into making a defensive mistake before slotting home. First half ended 2-0.

Second half started like the first and we had several chances which Colin couldn’t put away. Against the run of play, we conceded a penalty after Kee fouling the striker with no threat to the goal. From the touchline, it seemed that it was Kee who ran into the striker and tripping himself. Penalty was put away with ease by the opponentthusgiving some of us much needed penalty tutorials.

Instead of panicking, we continued to play with confidence and 3 more goals were scored. Poh grabbed his goal with a audacious Beckham like punt from mid-field which everyone thought was going out. This restored our 2 goal cushion. After several runs downs the flanks and sky shots, Poh decided to substitute himself and Jensen brought on Henry. What a tactical master stroke and Henry went on to score. This just shows how talented our bench is spilling over with potential future Incepcion managers. Henry then went on to grab his third of the game after some nice move assisted by Harold. Final score, 5-1.

As most of you will admit, this was a far weaker team compared to those we faced for the last 2 weeks. However, a win is a win and we all came together to play good football. What’s most important here is win lose or draw, we all gather every Saturday to play as a team and enjoy ourselves. So let’s carry on this style moving forward.

MOM

This week’s MOM goes to Henry for doing nothing but what he does best, scoring and playing above expectations bagging a fine hat-trick. Well done Henry!

Blooper of the Week Quote:

“PenalKEE”

(I am getting bored with the penalty thinghy so hopefully we can get something different this week)

Incepcion Vs Prison Officers

This week also featured a night game organized by Jeff Kagawa against a team of veteran prison officers. This is the first time in years we have played a game on natural grass and some of us had to get used to it.

Game started and we were evenly matched. The opponents scored the first goal after our move broke down and they scored with a swift counter attack. We then equalized with a Ron corner finding Pat’s head. 1-1 was how it ended in the first half.

In the second half, we missed several open chances with simple headers with Aden and were punished when another swift counter attack saw the striker slotting past Sherman’s near post. Ron then scored through a direct free kick..Courtesy of a dummy, the grass, and finally..the goalkeeper pushing the ball into his own net via the upright. Toward the end of the game, we were awarded a penalty and in came Jensen to try banish his penalty nightmare from BKK. Well, seems the disease is for real and he missed yet again. Final score, 2-2.

Today, the defence deserves special mention as we welcome Ben back from his holidays. The entire backline played well with Clarence his usual self bossing around, Jiuun with his lung bursting over lapping runs and X rated crunching tackles, Ben with his defensive cover, and Bee with his never say die attitude.

MOM

This game’s MOM goes to Bee. Well done Bee!

Blooper Quote for this Game " I have found a new vurus strain making people miss penalties. And I have named it after one of our own players.

"Jenniebiopola"

Moving forward, we are officially starting our mid-week games under Incepcion and will be perhaps a fortnightly affair. We will also be having our internal game too so stay tuned.

See you all this weekend and do let Ron know if you can go to his BBQ if you haven’t.

Cheers,

SK
