Home friendly match played on 02 March 2019.
Kicked off at 5:00 PM

After 2 months and 9 games later, we finally broke the losing streak. Last week’s defeat to eventual champions, Eagle Boyz, laid to rest our chances of winning the league title. 2 more league games to go and we need to win to confirm runners-up. But first of all, we had to snap the losing run. We last played Dynamics around 2-3 years ago. The previous results were in our favour and the committee was hoping for that to continue. The opponents seemed to be short of players and were actively engaging young players from the earlier 3pm game to make up the numbers. Manager started with the same formation. We were definitely on top in the opening exchanges as we swarmed on them with pressure. Colin had a great chance, sending a wonderful header that hit the crossbar. Somehow, the rebound fell to him and he skewed his shot onto the cross bar again. Patrick then had a great chance but ballooned his shot over the fence and had to have Kee to retrieve the ball from the road. We created many chances but we didn’t finish them. Deja Vu. Seems like it’s not going to be our day again. The opponents were not out of the game either. A long ball down our left saw a misunderstanding between Kee and Clarence. That allowed the nippy centre forward to get to the ball first and ran into box. While trying to recover, Clarence clipped that guy and a penalty was awarded. Heads went down. Sherman stood up and magnificently saved the shot. Sherman came to our rescue again when their centre forward was put through 1 on 1. And from the resulting rebound, a clear open goal beckons for the onrushing right winger. Somehow, Sherman saved it and even managed to gather the ball after that. It was really lucky for us that we went into half time 0-0. Not much changes for the second half and we began it very much the same way. A corner from Harold found Patrick at the far post to nod in the ball for a goal. Opponents were claiming that the ball went out but the referee couldn’t see it. 1-0 up and we were on the front foot. However, a defensive calamity allowed the same centre forward to steal in behind Kee. Having no choice, he fouled him and another penalty was awarded. This time, Sherman couldn’t save it. 1-1 and 20 minutes to go. Stuart was now playing on the right wing. And he had loads of action. A through ball from the captain to him saw him cut in at the byeline. Then he laid the ball on the platter for Dave to calmly stroke it into the bottom left corner! We took the lead again! But what was Dave doing up there in the box? He was left back. We had several more chances but couldn’t convert. Sherman was playing out of his skin and saved the few chances that the opponents had. The referee finally blew for full time and we got our victory. About time we snapped the run. Although we won, we have only ourselves to blame for not finishing it early and leaving nervous play towards the end of the game. The effort was very much lesser than the week before but we still did tried hard. Next week, league game. Let’s continue the fine run of effort and get going again.
