Kalomo Celtic FC travelled to Livingstone on 6 September 2026 for a league away fixture against Tamanga Boys FC, kicking off at 15:00. The match ended in a 1-0 defeat for Kalomo Celtic after a tightly contested 90 minutes plus injury time. Despite several chances and tactical adjustments, the visitors were unable to find the net and left the pitch empty-handed.

Kalomo Celtic lined up in a 4-1-2-3 formation, aiming to balance defensive solidity with attacking flair. Mwanida Chisamu took his place between the sticks as goalkeeper, shielded by a back four consisting of Johnson at right back, Mainza Mayoba and Chaabilo as central defenders, and Phillip Lungu on the left flank. Salaamba Lungu operated as the lone holding midfielder, tasked with breaking up play and distributing the ball. Ahead of him, Moonga and John occupied the right and left attacking midfield roles respectively, expected to link midfield and attack with creativity and width. The front three featured Talent Syamujulu on the right wing, Khaiko Zwao leading the line as striker, and Muyunda on the left forward position, all charged with providing goal threat and penetration. On the bench, Michael Phiri, Mich, Prince M, Michael small , Kasalika , Simon and Mutakela K were named as substitutes.

The first notable incident came in the 26th minute when Khaiko Zwao was flagged offside for a mistimed run. The decision was contentious, with replays suggesting the call was incorrect, denying Kalomo Celtic a promising attacking opportunity. The game remained goalless at the interval, with both sides probing cautiously but unable to break the deadlock.

Just before the break, John was forced off Due to Stomach pain and replaced by Michael Phiri, a change that would prove significant in the second half. The restart saw Tamanga Boys FC capitalise on a lapse in concentration from Moonga after being tackled by Tamanga Boys player in the 50th minute. The right attacking midfielder’s error allowed the opponents space to unleash a powerful right-footed strike from outside the penalty area, which flew past Chisamu and into the net, giving the home side a crucial 1-0 lead.

Kalomo Celtic responded swiftly with tactical substitutions at the 55th minute mark. Mich came on for Moonga , while Prince replaced Muyunda , both changes aimed at injecting fresh legs and restoring balance after falling behind. The visitors continued to press for an equaliser but suffered another blow when Khaiko Zwao was withdrawn due to injury in the 70th minute, with Mutakela entering the fray to bolster the attack.

Shortly after, Michael Phiri nearly made an immediate impact, his effort rattling the crossbar in the 70th minute and coming agonisingly close to levelling the score. Two minutes later, Prince was ruled offside for a mistimed run, a decision that again appeared harsh and denied Kalomo Celtic a potential chance to threaten the Tamanga Boys’ defence.

As the match progressed, goalkeeper Mwanida Chisamu was called into action, notably punching clear a dangerous ball twice in the 82nd minute to prevent further pressure on his goal. However, the visitors’ frustrations mounted when Mich received a yellow card for a bad tackle in the 87th minute, reducing Kalomo Celtic’s discipline and composure in the closing stages.

Despite their efforts and tactical reshuffles, Kalomo Celtic were unable to break down the Tamanga Boys’ defence and level the score. The match concluded with the home side securing a narrow 1-0 victory, leaving Kalomo Celtic to reflect on missed opportunities and the fine margins that decided the contest.
