Labyrinth Football Club travelled to face Marikana Galaxy in a league away fixture at the Marikana Stadium on 24 May 2026, with kick-off at 3:00pm. Despite a spirited performance, Labyrinth FC were edged out 1-0 following a second-half penalty, leaving them empty-handed after 90 minutes of competitive football in front of a modest crowd of 200.

Labyrinth lined up in a traditional 4-4-2 formation, aiming to balance defensive solidity with attacking intent. In goal, Ratoolo Pogisho was tasked with commanding the backline and organising the defence. The defensive quartet consisted of Ofentse Monau at right-back, central defenders Katlego Mapheele and Mogomotsi Katane, and Karabo Lesame operating on the left flank. Across midfield, Rapula Malusi took up the right midfield berth, with central midfield duties shared by Pule Phosisi and Karabo Diale, while Oratile Lesenyo provided width on the left. Up front, the strike partnership featured Prince Moemi on the right and Amogelang Lesedi on the left, expected to spearhead attacks and convert chances. On the bench, Karabo Moyo and Ontsheketse Motlhetlhi awaited opportunities to impact the game.

The match began with both sides probing cautiously, but it was clear Labyrinth intended to utilise their wide midfielders to stretch Marikana Galaxy’s defence. However, the game took an early twist in the 39th minute when Labyrinth were forced into a double substitution due to injury and tactical reshuffle. Prince Moemi was withdrawn and replaced by Karabo Moyo, who unfortunately received a yellow card almost immediately after entering the fray. Just a minute later, Ontsheketse Motlhetlhi came on for Amogelang Lesedi, signalling a shift in attacking options as Labyrinth sought to maintain their shape and energy going into the final stages of the first half.

The first 45 minutes concluded with neither side able to break the deadlock, as both defences held firm and chances were limited. Labyrinth’s back four, marshalled by Mapheele and Katane, remained disciplined, while Pogisho’s presence in goal provided reassurance.

The second half saw Marikana Galaxy grow in confidence, and their persistence was rewarded in the 68th minute when they were awarded a penalty. The spot-kick was calmly converted, handing the hosts a crucial 1-0 lead. Labyrinth responded by pushing forward in search of an equaliser, but their efforts were hampered by disciplinary issues. In the 77th minute, Mogomotsi Katane was shown a yellow card for a bad tackle, disrupting the defensive rhythm. Shortly after, Ofentse Monau received a yellow card for dissent, further complicating Labyrinth’s task as frustration crept into their play.

Despite their numerical and tactical challenges, Labyrinth’s goalkeeper Ratoolo Pogisho stood out as a pillar of resistance, making several key saves to keep his side in contention. His commanding presence and shot-stopping were instrumental in preventing a wider margin of defeat.

Ultimately, Labyrinth Football Club were unable to find a breakthrough, and the match ended 1-0 in favour of Marikana Galaxy. The narrow loss highlighted the fine margins of league football and the impact of early substitutions and disciplinary setbacks on Labyrinth’s performance.
