Home league match played on 02 November 2013.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

LBG Strollers eventually got to play at designated home pitch for the season Meggetland in a 3rd vs 4th game against CS Strollers.  Both teams went into the game on 12 points, however LBG have played 2 games more than the visitors so were desperate for a win to ensure that CS have to win one of their games in hand to claw level.

Tomarelli came in to centre half to replace Dillon in the only change from last week.

LBG Strollers made a positive start to the match and were rewarded when Langstaffs terrific corner was headed into his own net at the back post by the CS defender.  LBG looked to build on this and test the slow CS rearguard as much as possible, Langstaff had a great chance to make it 2-0 but after showing good speed and strength he hit his shot to close to the keeper when he ought to have scored.

CS were having a bit of the game at this stage and having a few long range efforts, one hit from 20 yards forced Allan into a decent save.

Clement then had a chance when he played a neat one two with Langstaff on the edge of the box but prodded just wide of the post with the keeper beaten.

Strollers blew another great chance to extend their lead, Thomson picked up the ball in the middle of the park and played a stunning through ball for Clement which seen the striker one-on-one with the CS keeper, Clement fired straight at the keeper and the chance was gone.

Langstaff then drilled a good shot just wide after again outpacing the CS defence.

Then came drama as Hengtes was lucky to stay on the park, 2 dreadful challenges in quick succession incensed the away side however the referee only deemed the 2nd foul to be worthy of a yellow card.

LBG couldnt get the 2nd goal and it came back to haunt them 5 minutes before half-time.  Dreadful marking allowing the CS player to score a header from 8 yards, it was a shocking goal for LBG to lose and it was quite unbelievable the amount of space the CS player had to head home.

Half-time   LBG Strollers 1 - 1 CS Strollers

Hitchen came on for Hengtes at half-time to avoid Hengtes picking up a red card.  Again he looked a threat and very dangerous every time he got on the ball.

CS got a 2nd quickly in the 2nd half, another terrible goal to lose as a cross from wide found a centre midfielder running through completely unmarked to head home.

This was a huge blow for LBG as they had been the better side, however they responded very well to the setback and got themselves level quickly when Langstaff drove at goal, the keeper came out to thwart Langstaff but Mcpherson followed up quickly and neatly finished the chance off to bring the scores level.

Richie Paul and Paul Burden were then brought on for Clement and Gaunt.

Thomson then had a chance from 25 yards after being laid off by Burden, Thomson took one touch, looked up and with the ball sititing perfectly Thomson smashed the ball at least 20 yards over the bar and onto the railway.  Thomson who had a terrific match up to that point was soon to be substituted.

Burden almost gave the home side the lead instantly, a neat one to with Hitchen and Burden's drive was brilliantly tipped wide by the CS keeper.

LBG were creating numerous opportunities now with Wallace and Hitchen linking well and the latter getting lots of good cut backs and crosses into the box, however there was no finishing touch to any of the opportunities and indeed CS might just have grabbed the win, a terrific lob from 35 yards saw Allan scrambling but the keeper somehow managed to get back in time to tip the ball over the bar.

All in all it was a good performance by the Strollers and they should have won the game to move into 3rd.  They move onto another game at Meggetland against Redpath Albion in the Miller Cup and will be looking to avenge a recent 3-1 defeat.
