Lomond Thistle closed out pre-season today with an emphatic 10-1 win over Glasgow Saints.

Another slow start for Thistle allowed Saints to have plenty of the ball, with their midfield three causing the Panda Jags some issues in getting a foot hold in the game.

With the game there for the taking, both teams looked to attack early on, with Glasgow Saints coming close on a few occasions and giving Thistle plenty scares.

Thistle had to wait until the 18th minute of the game for a chance, some good play out wide from Logan Park to set up Chris Allan - who cut inside and curled one into the top corner from the edge of the box. 1-0 Thistle.

After that Thistle got the head screwed on and started to become far more clinical with the ball in the final third. Logan Park with the assist again, who found Jacob Withers' head from a corner to make it 2-0.

On minute 33' it was another good delivery from Logan Park to again find Withers, this time his header dropping to the feet of David Allan, who finished from a few yards out to make it 3-0.

Two minutes later, saw Thistle score the best goal of the game from a team work perspective. After a combination out wide, the ball was played inside to David Allan who flicked it first time with his heel straight into the path of Ian McGregor who drove into the box to finish and make it 4-0 going into half time.

Thistle started the second half with their tails up - substitute Fraser McCaughey wasting no time in getting involved. McCaughey found Chris Allan with the pass and 'Italia' jinking past his man to put himself one-on-one with the keeper. His first shot was well saved but he made no mistake with the rebound. 5-0 Thistle.

Another corner and another assist from Logan Park, finding the head of Jacob Withers for the third time - with the big man scoring his second of the game to make it 6-0.

Thistles' seventh of the game came after Nick Burrows drove with the ball from deep, feeding it to Chris Allan out wide who squared it across for Logan Park to get a well deserved goal.

Ali Orr (who decided he felt like playing for us today) was at it again in the middle of the park, finding himself with some space to run into and unleashing an absolute rocket of a shot from just outside the edge the box, leaving the keeper with absolutely no chance as the ball went in off the post.

Glasgow Saints managed to pull one back on minute 68' after a great delivery into the box, found the Saints' man free inside the six-yard box, chipping the on rushing Chris Orr.

The introduction of the McColl brothers always brings controversy. This time Scott McColl was brought down in the area - no dive this week as the penalty was well deserved. It was Scott who stepped up to take it, drilling it low and hard into the bottom left.

The tenth and final Thistle goal of the game came on the 83rd minute. Daniel Porter, showing great energy in the middle of the park to beat his man to the ball, drive forward and find Scott McColl's feet. Scott turned and found himself in a bit of space and struck the ball from just outside the box, the power was too much despite the keeper getting a hand to it.

FULL TIME | Lomond Thistle 10-1 Glasgow Saints

MOTM | Jacob Withers. The towering centre back was solid as always at the back, popped up with two goals and an assist and even took the armband for the final ten minutes of the game. Superb performance from the big man.

Hard lines to Glasgow Saints - they certainly won't be getting beat like that every week and despite the scoreline looked quite bright in spells, particularly in the midfield. Best of luck to the Saints and I'm sure they'll kick on once they've had a bit more time to gel.

Really good preparation for Thistle today as we look ahead to our GCCL league opener away to Glasgow Wednesday next Sunday.
