And here we are again, a new season, new team, new kit and few new players, GAME ON!!!!!

The manager’s selection placed Ewan Carcary [GK], Connor Simmonds, Billy Tidman, Jamie Pye, Sam White, Billy Dawkins, JJ, Jack Amos and Josh Ashdown first out, with Jacob Williams, Evan Godden and Harry Goodwright in the wings as appointed substitutes.

First Half:

The Loose Lions boys were piling on the pressure moving the ball well in midfield with shots from Jamie and Josh being denied by the Valley keeper, who to be honest was having his work cut out from the barrage of shots. These Lions were playing some really good football.

A lightening run from Conner released Jack who was unlucky not to find the ever approaching Josh Ashdown. Vinters were always looking to break and 5 minutes in it happened it was only the Lions back two of Sam White and JJ that denied a passage through.

The threat was always going to come from the break, it was the Vinters number 7 that carved a path through the Lions midfield that that almost gave the home side the advantage, but it was the defensive wall of the Lions back three of Sam, JJ and Billy ‘The Rock’ Dawkins’ that again stopped the attack.

Most games are won or lost through midfield and this game was no different, the mighty Lions worked tirelessly throughout and were rewarded with a thirteenth minute goal from the cerebral assassin Jack Amos from a precision through ball from Billy T, placing the away side one nil up.

Lions continued the pile on the pressure forcing the play into the Valley half with beautifully controlled passing throughout midfield from Billy Tidman and Jamie Pye who was again unlucky not to find the right boot the Josh A. Lions were moving the ball around well…..

Brilliant movement on and off the ball from the young Billy Dawkins who looked settled in his defensive role, but it was the Lions number 11 who continued to dismantle the opposing midfielders.

Vinters were working the ball well, but were stopped by the Lions defensive wall of JJ, Sam White and Billy Dawkins, all of which were focusing on their positions. This game was all about Lions and to be honest apart from the odd break from the Home side, the Lions were always the controlling factor.

Team changes placed the Evan Godden and Jacob Williams in place for Sam White and Jamie Pye.

Second Half:

The Lions boys started a little slower that at the start of the second half, with the majority of play being dictated by the home side. It was only the quick reflexes of the Lions goalkeeper Ewan Carcary that denied the home side the equaliser.

The home side start to gain momentum and with their visible strength on their side were starting to break down the away sides defence, but denied by the new boy Evan who with little match experience done a sterling defensive job.

Team changes placed Harry Goodwright on for Josh Ashdown.

The midfield was really working hard, phenomenal attacks from Harry Goodwright, Connor Simmonds and Billy Tidman who were tireless in their appointed positions.

Perfect positioning from the young Harry Goodwright, who was unlucky not to capitalise on a through ball from Connor Simmonds
