Match report by Dendy Secretary Matt Eagles:

Mary Dendy finished the season with an excellent defensive performance but ultimately a 2-1 defeat away at Club AZ but after back to back home 5-2 victories against High Lane and Lacey Green interspersed with a heavy midweek 8-1 defeat against Wilmslow at least they will have something to build on for next season.

Club AZ were left frustrated after hoping to boost their goal difference with a big win against Dendy . Dendy opened the scoring after Chris Scarle muscled his way into the penalty and fired home past Elliot Bruce after a long kick from keeper Chris Shepherd but less than two minutes later AZ were level after referee Mark Lee awarded a penalty against Nick Brunker for hand ball . Callum Loftus stepped up and sent Chris Shepherd the wrong way.

The second half was one way traffic and with Dendy defending in numbers it was only a matter of time before AZ took the lead . It came courtesy of Sam Williamson’s left foot shot from the edge of the penalty area but the assist came from a Dendy defender. Time and again AZ had chances to increase their lead but due to some wayward finishing and the heroics of Shepherd in goal the score remained 2-1 .

Match report by Dendy Assistant Manager David Vickers:

CLUB AZ 2 MARY DENDY 1

The two teams were only separated by a very dubious penalty for a hand ball that even CLUB AZ players said wasn't.

Dendy played again with a different team but the same hard work they shocked HIGH LANE with in last weeks game. A strong Dendy team at the back kept a very good footballing club AZ at bay for most of the ...90 mins. Hard work all the way through the team frustrated CLUB AZ who got more annoyed and niggled as the time ticked way. Finishing and rushing was CLUB AZ's failings today and they will have to play better in the two games they have coming in the league and cup against the unbeaten WILMSLOW TOWN.
Dendy's goal came from a long goal kick which was flicked on by Matt Morris to Scall who got behind the AZ defence to take a shock 1-0 lead. The incorrect penalty made it 1-1 at half time. The second half surprised me as i thought the AZ passing game and fitness would work against Dendy but again Dendy managed to keep up the work rate. A winner for AZ came from an ex Man city books player who put it away after running through the packed Dendy defence.

So a 2-1 defeat in which Dendy held their heads up high finished the league season with hope for next season. High light was the defence again working well. Shep playing well in goal. The presence of two young players who look good for next year.

The race for top goal scorer goes down to the LEGENDS game next weekend with the hard working Matt Morris going off at half time injured and the injured Dan Vickers choosing Love over the game he loves.

Man of the match on a recount was the excellent young Thunder cat DAVE over solo striker Scarll (however its spelt). Dave worked hard in centre mid all game and looks like he will mature into a good player when he gets bigger and older.

Special mention for the defence who again worked hard.

Donkey was scarll for falling off the the table. I gave it him for the pure look of terror on a little girls face at the eggerton arms after the game.

FOOD eggerton arms did us proud again with black pud, bacon, sausage in a honey sauce with chips. I think the plates were licked clean by the team after.
