Match Report by Mary Dendy Assistant Manager David Vickers

Mary Dendy gain sweet revenge on the team that knocked them out of the cup only a few weeks ago by 7 - 0.

A strong Dendy side only a few players short of the strongest side they could put out took the game to a High Lane team who must have expected an easy game before the cup final against Wilmslow. A strong midfield worked hard to break down High lane and it was Dendy who took an early lead with Geoff scoring an easy goal. A back four of Nick Ian James and Phil looked awesome in front of Shep to keep High lanes chances few and far between. When they did have chances High Lane failed to take them. It was Geoff who was again to score when a cross was taken in the wind and past the High Lane keeper to make it a surprise 2-0. A needless free kick given away for handball by Phil was converted into the net from the free kick and it was game on 2-1. Thank fully it was Dendy who were to score next with Matt Morris smashing one in from close in. Dendy went in 3-1 up at half time looking more than a match for High Lane. The second half saw High Lane pushing hard using the long ball more and more.

The next goal was taken well by James who thundered one in at the back post. Now 4-1 to Dendy and the surprise win seem to be in the bag. Hard working Matt Morris found himself in the wrong box and the wrong side of the attacker and a penalty was awarded. The penalty was put away and the last ten minutes was set up for High Lane to push for more goals. Thankfully all the pressure was to come to nothing and it was a shot from super sub Josh who finished the scoring. A nice 5-2 win which put Dendy joint third with one game left.

Man of the match was won by Shep in goal.

This was a well spread vote as the team played well today in all parts of the pitch and a few could count themselves unlucky not to claim it.

Donkey was poor old super sub Josh who didn't mind scoring a goal was enough for the lad.

It was nice to see two old Dendy stars turn up to watch and i am sure Mono and Steve were as surprised at me to see the win.

Food was sausage rolls. cheese rolls, cornish pasty's and chips. When is the gammon coming back.
