FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

MARY DENDY 1 CREWE FC SUNDAY 0

HT 0-0

Dendy on the road again for a pre season friendly in Sandbach.
Last weeks large Dendy squad was a lot smaller and they struggled to have many subs. Again Perry the goal keeper had to watch from the sidelines. Fingers crossed he is fit for the start of the season. Even though the Dendy numbers were small the quality thankfully was not.

Crewe on the other hand were not short of players with a large squad of players containing some familiar faces.
The game was even with the passing of Dendy being of a higher quality then Crewe but they made up for it with plenty of effort surrounding the Dendy player in possession with two three or even four players. Dendy had the best of a tight first half and it was only a dropped ball by Tommy Wake guesting in goal that really troubled a solid Dendy lead by man of the match Adam who played a stormer. Beef did well to save Tommy Wakes blushes with a goal line clearance.

Half Time 0-0

Second half Crewe had the luxury of making a large number of changes. Sadly the Dendy players only had two on the bench.
One of these was to go in goal at half time to replace Tommy Wake who went into midfield.

Dendy started slowly in the second half as Crewe's new look team pushed for a goal. Thankfully Dendy's passing returned and they were back into a close game. After 22 mins of the second half a needless free kick was given away by Crewe out side the box . Up stepped Ted to score directly from the kick. This seemed to give Dendy extra energy and with the ever lively Scott again playing a lone striker role they were unlucky not to go two or three up. The last 15 mins Dendy started to tire and slow down as the Dendy players who had played 90 mins struggled to hold the fresher Crewe legs.
A few scary moments and a off side ruling out a Crewe goal the weary Dendy players held firm to hold on for a one nil win.

Another very competitive game. Another good game to watch.
Dendy this season look to have some decent calm players who can pass and hold the ball well. Hopefully getting into this new look Dendy team will be hard for all but the committed or talented.

Food and drink after the game was very nice Sausages, chips, bread and butter. Tasty and plenty of it. Thank you THE CHESHIRE CHEESE in Wheellock.
