Away league match played on 28 April 2010.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

We arrived at Orston playing fields for this Wednesday evening clash with a total of 743 players. Maybe it was only 18 or so, but we had not had the luxury of choosing from that many lads for a long time.

After an extended team selection chat and a few scuffles to find enough shorts and socks we made our way to the pitch. The term football pitch would be stretching things about as much as the material in a pair of 28” speedos wrapped around Richards’ arse, as the playing surface resembled a baked riverbed with cracks so wide we feared that Callum could fall in one and disappear to the centre of the earth.

Anyway, after several minutes of chin stroking the decision was taken to start  and see how things went.

All I can say about the game is that we produced our best performance of the season against a very strong Aslockton side. All our lads gave 100% and all were a credit to the club.

The first half was evenly contested with both sides playing some good stuff.

Rob nipped in to give us an early lead, which was equalised just before half-time following a bout of pressure.

The second half saw us creating many chances and also showing some fine defensive play.

With ten minutes remaining super-sub Craig popped up in the box to slot home what proved to be the winner.

A cracking result against a good team and a match played in the correct way. Referee Ian Wilkinson asked me to pass on his gratitude to all our lads for such an enjoyable game to officiate.

As mentioned before, I thought that all of you were outstanding and fully deserved the victory. I would also like to thank those unused players for their commitment to the team – it is appreciated.

Special mention must go to man of the match Nick Holland who was faultless throughout the game. In my opinion, Nick produced the best individual performance I have seen this season.

Well done to all of you!
