Away cup match played on 20 September 2014.

30 minutes extra time played.

Glenavy IIIs 3-4 Newtown Forest IIIs (AET)

Very poor first half an hour saw us 2-0 down albeit against the team currently top of our league, with a 100% record to date. But a curling goal from 25 yards (which Miguel Gonzalez definitely meant) put us back in it just before half time. Michael Muck got a scrappy equaliser as we started to play a bit of football.

Then the heroics started - with Ray Mc Phillips saving a brilliant penalty, right into the corner. He'd then go on to play the guts of an hour despite being barely able to kick the ball after a pretty nasty boot to the shin. Glenavy went back in front only for new signing James Campbell to come on as a sub and get the equaliser with literally the last kick of the 90 minutes.

Into extra time and James scored what's a cert to be goal of the season, running from the half way line, piss-takingly beating three men, sliding it past their keeper for a second time, Maradona-esque. The last twenty minutes or so we showed incredible character to keep Glenavy out of the game, getting under their skin, even winding them up at points. Just as I, like a couple of other players, started to show concern about the possibility of literally dying on that pitch, the ref blows up.

Mentions to Dean McDowell for his two assists. Joint men of the match - Ray & James.

First win of the season. Through to the next round.
