A friendly today and the first time we've played at RMS for 2.5 months.
We knew Reading Royals were a good footballing team and they did not
disappoint. Playing with the wind, Phantoms were completely outplayed
first half. Reading were more clever, more switched on and playing the
better possession football. Their number 9 was causing big problems in
the first 10 minutes and they took a deserved lead after our passive
defending was finally exposed. So many chances to be compact and then
to clear the danger but not to be..
Second half was a more even game but I'd still argue that Reading were
looking the more capable, whereas our play was based on endeavour and
scrappiness. Great physical effort from the boys but our technical
play was very limited.
No goals scored second half and final score was 1-0.
It was a surprisingly indisciplined performance from Phantoms.
