MEFF #17 – SZCZESNY HAWKES 3 - 3 2 GIRLS 1 CUP FC (19th SEPTEMBER):

The MEFF produced yet another tempestuous encounter as SuBo’s 2 Girls 1 Cup FC challenged Aidan’s unbeaten Szczeny Hawkes for a taste of glory. The perma-crocked Sicky resumed in goal, and both he and his counterpart Daddy Steels were in fine form to keep the scores even, with Sicky smothering a number of one-on-ones and Paul diving feet-first to clear his lines.

Tensions began to boil over when Andrew “Eyes Closed Backwards Stamp Tackle” Griffin and Thomas “Slidey Hack Tackle” Spencer enjoyed a bit of rough-and-tumble together after a disagreement about tackling etiquette, but ultimately a competitive game ended with honours even, with 2 Girls matching Szczesny’s 2 Goals, while Crozier resumed a familiar position as he was forced to rummage around on all fours in the pitch black hedges looking for his ‘balls’.

0-1: Patto(Pete sprayed the ball to Patto on the left wing, who dropped his shoulder, ran into the box and then finished from a right angle with his left boot)

1-1: Griffiths(hitting on the counter-attack, Crozier nutmegged the stranded Patto to feed Griffiths, who whipped a shot into the top bin over the diving Steels)

2-1:Aidan (after holding up the ball on the right, Crozier nutmegged Patto again, with the ball falling to the unmarked Aidan at the back post who slid in a simple finish)

Half Time

2-2: Spence (SuBo was allowed to run unchallenged towards goal, before feeding Spencer who, with his back to goal, flicked a spinning touch around Sicky which bounced in off the left post)

Men of the Match were Crozier, because “despite two miscues resulting in two lost balls, Croz made good use of the ball and was involved in both goals”, and Patto, as he “scored a goal that was good!”
