LMB MEFF #33 – KAMIKAZE ALL-STARS 9 – 2 CROCK OF S**T:

After a brief winter break, the LMB MEFF returned with Steels’ Kamikaze All-Stars building a composed victory that produced a record 7-goal winning margin against Fletch’s Crock of S**t. Due to Taylor’s work addiction, both teams started with 6 players as Brett, Spence and Patto rotated the refereeing duties, and after a slow start the All-Stars began to finish off a series of long-ball moves.

The introduction of Taylor (and therefore 7-a-side) reduced the playing space, and chances were almost exclusively fashioned on the break, with several defensive mistakes pounced upon by the All-Stars who continued to extend their lead with Ash, Sicky and (at times) Griff providing the running and Spence supplying the finish. Tired legs on both teams allowed further sloppy goals in the final quarter, although the scores could have been even higher had Patto not hit the woodwork at least four times or seen Frumpy pat away further goal-bound shots, while Spencer missed an absolute sitter from 5 yards after Patto had set him up. Nevertheless, Kieran, Luke, Fletch and Crozier still saw a lot of possession in midfield but were spurned in the final third by Brett and Paul.

1-0: Patto(having run the length of the pitch, Patto latched on to Sicky’s long ball over the top and finished first-time under Frumpy)

2-0: Spence(Patto played a weighted ball down the right wing which Spence finished from a tight angle after evading the onrushing Frumpy)

3-0: Griff(Sicky fed Patto who ran through on goal before laying the ball wide to Griff, who saw his goal-bound shot deflected in off the bar by Crozier’s face)

Second Half:

4-0: Spence(Frumpy’s miscued clearance fell straight to Spence in the edge of the box who finished confidently from 10 yards)

5-0: Sicky(Sicky picked up the loose ball on the edge of the area, “took on Fletch, Kie and Luke” and then smashed a hard shot into the bottom left corner)

5-1: Aidan(the All-Stars defence switched off as Fletch’s header found its way into the area, and Crozier’s pass across the area was missed by Luke but not by Aidan who tucked the ball away at the back post)

6-1: Spence(after holding up Paul’s goal kick, Spence inadvertently played a one-two with Fletch in the area before side-footing into the bottom corner)

7-1: Spence(after dribbling down the right wing for the umpteenth time, Ash produced a lovely cross to the unmarked Spence who saw his header saved by Frumpy from 7 yards, but managed to wrestle the loose ball across goal before back-heeling over the line)

8-1: Own Goal(a great passing move started by Griff ended with Spence rolling the ball across goal to Patto, who saw his first shot blocked but was fortunate with the rebound as it spun over the line after deflecting off Frumpy’s glove)

9-1: Sicky(Sicky picked up the loose ball on the edge of the area, “took on Fletch, Croz and Aidan” and then smashed a hard shot into the bottom left corner)

9-2: Fletch(a five-on-two counter-attack by Crock ended with Paul, and eventually Patto, making a series of goal-line clearances from Luke and Fletch, before the latter smashed a shot into the roof of the net)

Men of the Match were Spence, for “a ruthless display of goal hanging” and Kieran, who “kept battling, even when the opposition were out of sight.”
