Home league match played on 04 May 2011.
Kicked off at 6:30 PM

It was a game of 5 clearly defined passages of play in LMB’s epic against RTR Motorcyles...

Stage 1: LMB Get Off to a Flyer

Against an opposition with no subs and a goalkeeper wearing BMX gloves, a confident LMB raced to a 6-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes, with Brett (2), Patto, Crozier, Pete and Luke all finishing off sweeping moves. RTR did threaten on several occasions but Man of the Match Griffin was in formidable form, producing some superb one-handed stops as he rolled around the floor!

Stage 2: RTR’s Best Player Takes the Mickey

RTR suddenly began to notch up the goals as their energetic and lethal striker emerged from between the posts (having looked bewildered in goal) to start turning the LMB defence inside-out, hitting 9 goals in the next 15 minutes with his left peg. The despairing LMB managed to muster the odd reply through Spence and Crozier (2) to make it 9-9 at half-time, and suddenly the game was on!

Stage 3: Thomas “Bad Boy” Spencer sees Yellow

Within 1 minute of the restart, a hot-headed Spencer was so incensed by the lacklustre referee ignoring a goalkeeper’s kicked clearance that he was sin-binned for 5 minutes. Once play had restarted (following the inevitable door slam and sulk), LMB were forced to weather a storm for 5 minutes as RTR tried to make the most of their numerical advantage. Against the odds, several smart close-range saves from Griff and remarkably calm play from Birthday Boy Pete, Luke and Griffiths limited RTR to just one goal, which gave LMB belief that a result was still possible, and showed the first signs that RTR were beginning to tire...

Stage 4: LMB Find Their Shooting Boots

United by Spencer’s hilarious outburst and with the advantage of substitutes beginning to show, the reinstated 5 men of LMB began to defend with a renewed energy and took full advantage of the space and poor goalkeeping to score 9 in the final 10 minutes! Pete led the way with 4 excellently-taken long-range goals (including one ‘Birthday Goal’) to take his tally to 5, while Crozier added 2 more to also complete a 5-goal haul. Luke, Griffiths, Patto, Spence and Brett also added to the scoreline while setting up each other with precision passes, completing some excellent moves as RTR began to realise that the tide had turned.

Stage 5: Brett Does an Orbit Ball
