PGS Global – 2

Lions of Judah – 3

PGS’s recent good run was bought to an end on Sunday after they were beaten 3 – 2 in a closely fought match at Damson Lane where a draw would probably been a fair result.

For the 1st time this season we were able to name the same 10 outfield players as the previous week after the convincing 6-1 win and they started the game well and were more than a match for the high flying opponents. However, it was the away team who scored first. A defensive mistake allowed the striker to cut in from the left hand side and slot neatly past the goalkeeper for the day Dan Pickering. It took until the 35th minute for PGS to equalise. A through ball played in by Del left Luke B one on one with the keeper and equalise, his 4th in 2 games. He had earlier missed a good chance to put the team 1 up so was relieved to see this one hit the back of the net.

Half time: 1-1

A decent opening to the 2nd half gave PGS real hope that they could go on and win this game but a great strike 10 minutes into the 2nd half but Global on the back foot. The Lion of Judah player let fly from the edge of the area hitting the top right corner of the net, goalkeeper no chance, ‘take a bow son, take a bow!’.

The 3rd goal was more fluke than skill. A corner from the left hand side somehow had enough swerve on to end up looping over Dan and nestle is the back of the net, otherwise known as an Olympic goal.

PGS should have been back into the game almost instantly. Luke S, who had replaced Del, was played through only to see his strike saved by the keeper. There were also a number of balls from both corners and throw ins that flashed across the goal but there never seemed to be anyone at the far post to knock them in. However, with 5 minutes to go a throw from the right was flicked on from Alan and Luke S leaped well to header in his 5th of the season. Unfortunately, Global were unable to test the keeper again and the game ended 3-2.
