Home league match played on 06 September 2014.
Kicked off at 2:30 PM

5 minutes extra time played.

With a player AWOL a new formation was forced upon the team. A good start to the season after all the excellent work in pre season matches. A nice hot day at 'The Park Field' Resolven saw the newly promoted Onllwyn take on the new look Resolven 2nds. The match started rather scrappily with both sides sharing the posession. With no real chances and no threat on either goal the ball broke from the resolven defence to the halfway line where the Onllwyn midfielder toe punted a hopefull ball which swerved like Tonna bends one way then the other, away from Chris evans foot, and fell right to the foot of the Onllwyn striker who netted past a gob smacked Connell. At 1-0 chances started to come and later in the half the Onllwyn keeper palmed the ball passed the apex from a Leighton Sims free kick. Despite the pressure on the away teams goal it was infat the away team that scored the next. With our left back pushing forward the ball was played down our left side which was a difficut offside to call, the winger cut inside sliding the ball to their striker who slid yhe ball home to the bewilderment of many. Lesson learned from this goal is playto the whistle. 2-0 down but things could have gotten a lot better by the break when a probing run finished with a curling effort to the top corner saw the keeper pull off another excellent save. Soon after, a corner from Kieron Jones saw the ball come back who then dinked a lovely ball to the back post only for old nick nack head Sean Davies to nod the ball inches the wrong side of the open post. Another goal chance emerged when Greg Arnold found himself on the opposition goal line, tricking the defender who then brings him down for a stone cold penalty......nope, the referee's view was blocked and paly goes on. Very unlucky with that one. A rare oppurtunity fell to Rhys Stroud when a ball was platyed to his feet straight through the middle got him a one on one with a rushing goal keeper wjo spread himself well to block the shot. A tough day for the lone man upfront which got tougher later on.

Half Time 0-2

With a ticking off from the boss at half time things stated to pick up. Onllwyn kick off and the forwards apply excellent pressure forcing the mistake from the oppostion. The ball breaks in midfield to Sims who gives the slots the ball to Sean Davies who delightfully chips the stranded keeper. 2-1. Again Onllwyn kick off and pressure is applied to the ball by the promising young Lewiswho wins the ball and slips in Rhys who rounds the keeper and trips himself up. Funny as fuck but gutting. The chance is still alive as Sean races to the ball but the defence regroups and the ball cant find its was goal bound. 2 mins into the 2nd half and it should have been 2-2. As the game went on the only reason the goal tally stayed at 2 is thanks to some excellent defending from Domininc and Dawid at the back. An excellent partnership in the making here. A tired looking end to the game saw Chris Evans screaming like a cooking crab when he fell over. The 3 substitutions were made with time to make an impact but we couldnt seem to find that killer instinct upfront.

Final Score 1-2 Loss

A tough game which saw the boys leave it all on the pitch. Disapointed not to take atleast a point but yoou get what you deserve and the next game we will deserve 3 points!!!

Man of the match chosen in association of Richard Jones Spectating - Domininc Thomas
