Roebuck welcomed Badsey Rangers to Brown West Head Park on the morning of 29 March 2026 for a cup tie that kicked off promptly at 10:30am. The home side delivered a commanding performance to secure a 3-0 victory, shutting out their opponents and progressing comfortably. Referee James Hearn oversaw the 90 minutes plus added time in this 11-a-side encounter.
Roebuck lined up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, deploying Callum Hughes in goal behind a back four of Bradley Hackett at right back, Jack Wentworth and Curtys Willetts as central defenders, and Joe Walton at left back. The midfield featured Grahame Street on the right wing, Kieron Hughes and Dan Lees centrally, and Kyle Glaze on the left flank. Alistair Brown operated just behind the lone striker Niki Faux, tasked with linking play and supporting the forward line. The substitutes available were Chris Hubball, Daniel Lander, Luke Boden, Oliver Parkes, and Greg Southall.
In the opening 5 minutes The Buck had to shuffle the pack with Curtys Willetts taking a knock to his ankle, Willetts after treatment went up top to run it off leaving Kieron Hughes to drop in to the centre back roll and Alistair Brown slotting in to midfield with Dan Lees which ended up being the shape used for the rest of the game.
The breakthrough came in the 16th minute when Curtys Willetts launched a precise long pass forward, finding Alistair Brown who expertly finished to open the scoring. This early goal set the tone for Roebuck’s dominance. Just eight minutes later, the home side doubled their advantage through a well-executed header. Joe Walton delivered a pinpoint cross from the left flank, which Willetts met with a powerful header to extend the lead to 2-0.
Roebuck’s attacking intent was clear, and they maintained pressure on Badsey Rangers throughout the first half. However, the visitors struggled to create meaningful chances against a disciplined home defence marshalled by Wentworth and Hughes, Callum Hughes was called upon to make a fantastic reaction stop from point blank range. The first half concluded with Roebuck firmly in control.
Shortly before the interval, Roebuck were forced into an early substitution due to injury as Chris Hubball replaced the injured Niki Faux in the 40th minute. Despite this setback, the team’s shape and momentum remained intact going into the break.
The second half began with Roebuck continuing to press forward. Their efforts were rewarded in the 50th minute when Kieron Hughes delivered a precise cross into the box, allowing Joe Walton to rise highest and head home his side’s third goal. This header not only sealed the victory but also highlighted Walton’s attacking threat from left back.
As the match progressed, Roebuck made further changes to manage the game and respond to injuries. Daniel Lander came on for Grahame Street in the 78th minute, followed by Luke Boden replacing the injured Joe Walton five minutes later. Oliver Parkes was introduced in the 85th minute, taking over from Bradley Hackett, and Greg Southall came on for Curtys Willetts in the 88th minute. These substitutions ensured fresh legs and maintained the team’s defensive and midfield balance until the final whistle.
Throughout the match, Kieron Hughes stood out with his commanding presence in central defence and providing the assist for the 3rd goal, earning him the player of the match accolade. Roebuck’s cohesive team performance and tactical discipline ensured a clean sheet and a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Badsey Rangers on home soil.
