On 10 May 2026, Rosina Sedibane travelled to Unisa Sunnyside Campus for an 11-a-side league clash against Unisa Ladies, kicking off at 11:00am. The visitors produced a dominant display to secure a resounding 9-0 victory, leaving their hosts unable to mount any meaningful resistance throughout the 90 minutes plus added time.
Rosina Sedibane lined up in a 4-1-2-3 formation, designed to balance defensive solidity with attacking flair. Cindy Mhlongo took her place between the sticks as goalkeeper, shielded by a back four consisting of Tshegofatso Mgcina at right back, Ditebogo Malatji and Nomthandazo Zwane as central defenders, and Kgalalelo Selokela operating on the left flank. Oarabile Majafa anchored the midfield in a holding role, tasked with breaking up play and distributing the ball efficiently. Ahead of her, Lethabo Mokhonwana occupied the right attacking midfield position, with Lerato Mphuthi on the left, both expected to support the front line and create chances. The forward trio featured Onalenna Mphahlele on the right wing, Boitumelo Bobotyana leading the line as striker, and Cathrine on the left wing, all charged with converting opportunities and stretching the opposition defence. The substitutes named were Rayleigh Bojosi, Bokang Mokgonyana, Happiness Segokodi, Bontle Ralekwa, and Oratilwe Machethe.
The match burst into life early on with Cathrine opening the scoring in the 7th minute. Capitalising on a defensive mistake by Unisa Ladies, she calmly slotted the ball home with her left foot, setting the tone for what was to become a one-sided encounter. The left forward doubled her tally just 13 minutes later, again exploiting a defensive error to finish from close range with her left foot, leaving the Unisa goalkeeper with no chance.
Rosina Sedibane’s dominance continued as Boitumelo Bobotyana showcased her individual skill with a superb solo effort in the 27th minute, driving forward before firing a precise right-footed shot into the net. Shortly after, Onalenna Mphahlele added to the tally with a close-range tap-in in the 30th minute, expertly assisted by a pinpoint cross from Cathrine on the left flank.
As the first half neared its conclusion, Ditebogo Malatji demonstrated her ability to contribute offensively, curling a right-footed strike from outside the box in the 43rd minute, following a well-delivered free kick. This goal further emphasised Rosina Sedibane’s control and attacking threat heading into the break.
The teams went into the interval with Rosina Sedibane comfortably ahead at 5-0.
Early in the second half, tactical changes began to take shape. At the 55th minute mark, Rayleigh Bojosi replaced Lethabo Mokhonwana to inject fresh energy into the right attacking midfield position. Ten minutes later, Unisa Ladies faced further pressure as Bokang Mokgonyana came on for Onalenna Mphahlele on the right wing, while Happiness Segokodi replaced the holding midfielder Oarabile Majafa, signalling a shift in midfield dynamics.
Rosina Sedibane’s relentless attacking continued to reap rewards when Cathrine completed her hat-trick in the 67th minute. Receiving a short pass from the newly introduced Bojosi, she calmly finished with a close-range tap-in using her left foot, further extending the lead.
The visitors made additional tactical substitutions in the 70th minute, with Bontle Ralekwa coming on for central defender Ditebogo Malatji and Oratilwe Machethe replacing the prolific Cathrine on the left wing, maintaining the team’s attacking impetus.
Oratilwe Machethe wasted no time in making an impact, scoring in the 85th minute after a long pass from Nomthandazo Zwane found her in space. She finished with a composed right-footed tap-in, continuing the scoring spree.
Just four minutes later, Rayleigh Bojosi added her name to the scoresheet, capitalising on a long pass from striker Boitumelo Bobotyana. Bojosi’s right-footed finish was the product of a well-worked team move, underscoring the visitors’ fluid attacking play.
In stoppage time, left back Kgalalelo Selokela capped off the emphatic victory with a close-range left-footed finish, assisted by a short pass from Bokang Mokgonyana. This ninth goal was a fitting conclusion to a comprehensive team performance.
Cathrine was deservedly named player of the match, her hat-trick and constant threat down the left wing proving decisive in Rosina Sedibane’s overwhelming triumph. The visitors’ tactical discipline, clinical finishing, and cohesive team play ensured a memorable away victory at Unisa Sunnyside Campus, leaving Unisa Ladies searching for answers after a heavy defeat.
