Away league match played on 24 October 2009.
Kicked off at 2:30 AM

“You can only beat what’s in front of you.”

View face bottom of the league whipping boys Southwick Rangers.

A very good start this week, we turned up on time and in good sprits with every intention of getting not just a win but a resounding result to make other teams take notice.

A late change to the starting line up as Philippe was late gave Robbie another start on the left wing and that pushed Alex up top with Pete our in form striker.

Rangers started the game badly, playing every bit as bad as their kit and turn out looked!

With only 10 men it was only a matter of time before View would take the lead.

The first goal came from Robbie’s left foot, he seemed over the moon about the fact he shanked in to an empty net from 4 yards…lol 1-0

Then Alex showed his skill and footwork and managed to skip through a crowed defence and drive a fierce shot past the Rangers keeper 2-0

The next goal came from Big Mike P, a corner form the right somehow found it’s way through the crowd and fell to his feet where he scuffed it home at the back post the signs were very positive and the play was dominated by View.

Rangers tried to mount counter attacks but Jay Sr and Stuart cut out the attempted through balls with ease. And then gave good early passes to allow us to get back on the attack.

Pete “the salmon” Riley rose to head another goal midway through the first half, after an over hit cross managed to evade the defence and goal keeper, who looked very shaky indeed.

Alex then bagged his second rounding the keeper and tapping in, again showing some real individual brilliance after some clever play and a nice team work.

At this point the team work seemingly ground to a halt, although the new look defence were more then a match for Rangers the warning signs were there as we got stretched twice in a very short spell.

The rejuvenated Pete Reilly then scored his second this time staying on side to convert from Shanes pass, if only this Pete showed up every week J

The second half saw two changes, Jay Jr and Robbie off for Dave King and “The Late” Philippe…

A very decent opening to the half with high levels of work rate and communication throughout the team, we picked up where we left off.

Philippe was causing real danger off the bench it seemed imminent he would open his account for the day, but it was Pete on the spot again who rounded off his hattrick nicely with a smart finish from the edge off the box going across goal and in to the side netting leaving the keeper with no chance.

With Jay Jr off the View seemed to lacked a slight amount imagination after half time, with the play being disjointed and turning over possession much more then we usually do. This complacency was going to cost and it did, our clean sheet! Rangers drove through the centre of the pitch 5 on three and got a consolation goal.

Clearly unhappy with this the elaborate passing and trickery was out the window and we got back to scoring goals, Philippe grabbed a brace in ten minuets and Pete’s 4th ending the game strongly and in dominating fashion.

Special mentions,

Daz, paying a fiver only to be a spectator for much of the match.

Mike Patrick another goal for a debutant.

Pete Reilly, 4 goals, after being rotated showed what he can really do. MOM well done son keep it up.

Big one next week boys, early nights please J
