MATCH REPORT for SUNDAY 11th November 2012

Albany Rangers    1              St Michaels F C    5

St Michaels started the game brightly on a big pitch that suited their style of play perfectly. It only took 2 minutes for them to open the scoring when a great free kick from Adam Fahy saw Connor Reardon scramble the ball in at the far post. After 11 minutes Harry Smart had to come on for Dan Regan who had aggravated a hamstring. After just 14 minutes St Michaels scored again when a good cross from Ronnie Mewes left Danny Baptiste to tap in to make the score 0 – 2. Three minutes later with St Michaels pushing up, a breakaway from Albany Rangers stretched the defence and the Centre Forward was left with a simple header to reduce the deficit. Twenty minutes later St Michaels restored the two goal lead when a clever run by Ronnie Mewes led to a mistake in the Albany defence and he cleverly back heeled into an empty net. Half time 1 – 3 to St Michaels.

The second half started as had the first and after only 4 minutes Stuart Bird was unlucky when his shot hit the post. 7 minutes later a great ball from Stuart Bird saw Ben Baptiste notch his first goal to make the score 1 – 4. After 57 minutes James Mckerrell replaced Jack Jolly. In the 64th minute another great ball from Stuart Bird saw Danny Baptiste once again in the right place to tap in for his 10th goal of the season to make the score 1 – 5. Two minutes later Ryan Nibbs replaced Tom Pexton. With 13 minutes to go Adam Fahy hit the post. The only real moments in the remaining time was a booking for Ryan Nibbs and also for an Albany Rangers player.

A good performance by St Michaels who keep the pressure on F C Puma who currently lead the First Division. Special mentions to the whole midfield with good hardworking performances from Stuart Bird and Ronnie Mewes up front. Man of the Match for the second time this season though goes to Danny Baptiste with another brace to put pressure on Stuart Bird for Leading Goalscorer.
