Your match report this week is by Jack Meade.

Today’s game had St. Michaels play host to Crayfield at Eltham Green School. A lack lustre start from our boys gifted Crayfield early possession, putting pressure on our back four from the off. Poor passing and lack of communication played a major part in the game until 6 minutes in with a great interception from Beaver to feed in Adam, who left the opposition defence for dead but failed to make his chance pay. Similar to before Adam makes an amazing run past the full back and cleverly takes the ball around the keeper and with an open goal in front of him, turns back in to trouble and is tackled. 10 minutes in and St. Michaels seemed to settle and begin to control the tempo of the game stringing together passes, Ben Baptiste with the chance to whip the ball in from the corner and instead takes what can only be classed as the world’s worst corner rolls straight back out for a goal kick hitting the side netting. 12 minutes in and St. Michaels were gifted with a free kick just outside the box after great hold up play from Birdie, A well-rehearsed free kick with a lay off for Adam to spank it was destined to hit the back of the net until a fantastic clearance from our very own Birdie. Luck didn’t come in the form of free kicks when 15 minutes in Danny passed the ball over the wall to the opposition goalie. Conner Reardon continues on last week’s man of the match form with a commanding display at centre back mopping up anything that came his way. 20 minutes in and Conner although making the tackle was knocked to the floor by an opposing play, GET ON THE WEIGHTS SON! 25 minutes in and Adam finds himself with a gift of a chance but fails to hit the target as the ball rolls wide. 27 minutes in and a fantastic bit of team football with numerous link up play throughout the team gifts St. Michaels a goal bouncing off an opposing player on the way in. Great play lads! The defence was called upon again shortly after with an opposing free kick being cleverly played offside by Tom and the defence. 35 minutes in and a superb effort from Ben through to Adam to once again hit the canvas and earn St. Michaels the pen that was calmly converted by Jack Jolly 2-0. Adam goes down in agony 40 minutes in. 40 minutes in Adam is sprinting around again like nothing happened must have been a serious injury ? 44 minutes in James is taken out by ………… the floor, stone wall decision! 45 minutes in TTAAAAAAAAXXXXIIIIIIIIIIIII for Danny ! On the boarder of half time St. Michaels were gifted another penalty I let you guess who got it, Jolly composed with the finish 3-0 Half-Time. St. Michaels come out of the traps flying a superb delivery from Danny Bap just misses Connor’s head followed by a clever bit of trickery from Birdie and a great shot well saved. 60 minutes in and Sam comes on for James who had a solid performance at the back. 64 minutes in Tom vs pitch, 1-0 pitch. Regan brings the ball down for Danny to play a great ball into birdie who once again called on the opposing keeper to make a great save. 67 minutes Arran comes off the bench for Connor Reardon who had a solid performance again at the back today. A dubious decision gifts Crayfield a penalty, Harry inches away but unable to save unlucky 3-1. St. Michaels begin to pile on the pressure with a fantastic lob effort from Birdie hitting the cross bar, minutes later St. Michaels pelted the opposing keeper with shots from Jolly and Birdie were blocked until Adam stroked the ball into an empty net 4-1. As the game drew to a close, a great solo run from Adam made it 5-1 by passing the ball passed the keeper into the net great goal.

Special mentions this week go to Dan Regan with a tireless game running up and down the wing, Connor Reardon with a solid performance at the back before coming off and Beaver and Ben for solid work-rate and battling in the middle of the park. But my man of the match this week goes to Birdie for a fantastic performance who was involved in nearly every build up play and his hold up play up top was second to none.
