Home league match played on 30 April 2013.
Kicked off at 6:00 PM

Starlands girls played their final game of the season at a rearranged AWAY game at their own ground against local rival Woodstar Rangers.

It was a lovely sunny evening and there was a good crowd to watch.

Both teams fielded full teams - and the first half was very evenly matched. Albeit Woodstar could have scored in the first 30 seconds..the ball agonsingly rolling across the goal line and stoppign against the post until cleared ....phew !

Starlands were all over the place to begin with, but as the game progressed Amber broke free a couple of times and just could not add to her goals tally when one on one with the keeper. Credit must go to the Woodstar goalkeeper, but Amber did shoot straight at her.

Woodstar made no such mistakes - they had chances, but Laurice, chloe and Sinead were on top form and got stuck in clearing.blocking and charging down any attempt on goal.

Likewise Holly was coming off her line - and made some fantastic goal kicks.

The first half finished 0-0 the Starlands girls were very pleased with their efforts....but, in all honesty Woodstar just maybe have been ahead.

We seemed to be a little out of sorts in midfield - and struggled as always to put our foot on the ball and take a minute to compose ourselves and find a pass.

Grace ( Captain ) was trying her best to make some breaks out wide, but was the girls were struggling to compete with the superior physicality to Woodstar.

The second half, Woodstar were clinical. 3 shots resulted in 3 goals in probably as many minutes. The signs looked ominious and I feared the worse.

However, The Starlands girls stuck at it, and managed to force a penalty. Sinead was selected to step up - as she had been smashing the ball with such venom earlier in the game.

She stepped forward and did not quite connect properly, it looked as though the keeper had it covered - but somehow it slipped through the keepers legs and went in !

Goal !!!! Sineads first goal for the club. Well done !

Woodstar then broke, a ball was going direct at Hannahs face- for once she raised her arms to protect herself - and gave away a free kick. A smart move because we are running short on ice packs !!! with her and her sister ;)

The free kick was an absolute peach ...top corner ..no chance for Holly. Making it 4-1.

The 5th soon followed - The Starlands girls were just running out of steam....

The game finished 5-1 a valiant effort... and a great sunny evenings football...and an improvement on the last match against Woodstar.

Girls of the Game were Holly & Hannah - who amazingly had not received the trophy before? I dont know how? as they are consistent performers...Sorry ! But, well done Both.

Its true to say the girls have improved, but there is lots of room for improvement....

POSITIONAL SENSE , TALKING and LISTENING and being able to KICK THE BALL PROPERLY  for starters. So, we will continue to train on TUESDAYS during the summer.

Secondly, We could do with a couple of new players with football experience to help us out...a striker and midfielder...so if you know any friends who would like to join us and CAN PLAY FOOTBALL bring them along.

*DRAYTON MANOR will hopefully take place on Saturday 18th May - I am trying to get tickets.*

*Awards Night is Saturday 4th May*
