Away league match played on 27 September 2014.
Kicked off at 10:25 AM

This is my third attempt at writing the match report....to say I am a little peeved is an understatement. Not just by today and the way things panned out, but because I have written x 2 gem of a reports full of wit and banter !...and lost them all !...

So, I will write it on a word document and post it later....So, you will just have to wait if you are reading this :)

But, what I can tell you is the bare facts...

We arrived in good time on our usual journey of The M5

The toilets werent open...the girls were bursting !

As per usual a Worcester team fielded a younf fella who once again played a blinder to thwart our attacks..

We fell foul of the worst pass pback ruling I have ever seen ...inside our half...through a crowd of player?...yes very deliberate...NOT

We were not offered the 50:50 decision or protection from the ref.

Olivia got a harsh YELLOW card. One thing Starlands cannot be accused of is being a dirty team..I seem to remember us stopping play to help a Warwick player in our box last year and they scored !?"£^£%$! lol.

Amber hit the post with a terrific effort !

The back four were like rocks again.Alex,Laurice,CHloe and Sam.

Holly showed tremendous Captaincy - and rallied the girls at a time when it could have fallen apart.and came off her line like lightening again.

Grace continues to make great progress.

Kiera is holding her positionmuch better - but has introduced a bizarre form of tackle?...Mmmmm

Toni and Ellie returned from France with a new pre match diet !.... and Ellie played on with a broken arm...a career in medicine beckons?!

Beth took some terrific corners that Olivia needed headed goal bound !...

and Pete ran the line....

We were very unlucky to lose - a great performance - You did not roll over to a bigger, stronger, better drilled team - and stood toe to toe !...PROUD COACH.

ALEX was awarded GIRL OF THE GAME - a plucky little competitior who listens and plays the game simple - especially after last weeks hamstring injury.

EXTRA.....

This is my fourth attempt at the match report…and probably a good job that a computer bug/virus prevented me from submitting my earlier versions…

It is NEVER a good time to type a letter, match report or email when you are full of passion…

So, whilst I still managed to upload a very shortened version of events & feelings…I can now reflect on yesterdays events with a cooler head…and stand back to take in the whole chain of events….

Yesterday, Starlands were unlucky not to get something from a closely contested match with Worcester Utd.

The game was fiercely competitive with both sides prepared to stand up and battle for every ball.

Yes there was kick and rush – and in the main mostly by us…We may not have the skills that others have but what we do have is passion, keenness and a never say die attitude. Probably from the seasons of pain that we have had to endure.

We didn’t seem to get the rub of the green yesterday – but, **** happens.

Worcester scored a goal that bobbled and rolled into the bottom corner.

We had a couple of corners that could have ended up in the net.

Worcester had a young lad in goal that played like a sweeper and was alive to rebounds and made a couple of confident saves. The rules are there for everyone to have a boy…again…We must live with it…or join them. We choose not to and will continue to do so. We are entitled to say it is not in the spirit, but will get on with it – and take the moral high ground.

So, whilst we lost 1-0….I prefer to think that we did very very well - and showed just how much as a team you have developed, learnt and work for each other.

Olivia is sorry for what happened – but, in no way do I blame her. As I said to you all,….THINK WHAT YOU LIKE….Just Don’t say it ! J

More of the same next week, when we travel to Withymoor who I am sure will be out for revenge. If you recall last year we beat them with 10 players and then they beat us. Let’s see if we can do the double…..If not….Make sure we play with heart and enjoy ourselves.
