Match report........By Rob Wardlaw (roofy)

After a disappointing pre season, with no wins and 18 goals conceded it was time for the stones to start their assault on Div 1. Conker head stepped down as manager, to leave roof in charge with carter.

It wasn't looking good in the changing room before the game, lads not showing up or coming very late cos they were losing their cards in cash points. Carter was supposed to be doing a car boot sale. Gayest reason ever to not be at football until he saw sense.

The game got under way, with Stonefield pressing hard all over the pitch not allowing Harefield to play. It was a bright start, and the shocking performances form the week before were well out of the system.

After some good work from crash helmet head Sim knocked the ball into the back of the net to put us into a well deserved lead.

We continued to create chances, which were squandered. Luke had a great opportunity to notch and thought he had until the keeper pulled off a great save.

The stones continued to press and the hard work came off, giving Nick his first goal of the season.

Mully spent most of the first half idle, thinking up some banter for the second half.

HALF TIME 2-0

The game kicked off again, with Luke still fast asleep. We dropped the pace, giving Harefield a bit of a chance. They took their chance, scoring a goal and giving them a bit of confidence.

The stones battle through all the pressure Harefield could offer to waste a host more chances to put the game to bed.

Good league débuts for Jimmy, Phill and Charlie.

All in all it was a great team performance, with a deserved 3 points taken. If that consistency can be maintained over the season, then there is potential for another good year...........
