Tattenhoe were arguably put under more pressure here at a vibrant ground than at any time this season - but the champions-elect did what champions do and found a way to get the job done.

Gavin Marange superb second-half goal continued Tattenhoe Reds nine straight wins as they beat Newport Pagnell Lions.

Tattenhoe looked inhibited by the physicality of Newport Pagnell and took a while to gain a foothold in the game.

Newport Pagnell Lions began the game well with energy from start - with Indy King and Lucas Holmes throwing their bodies in the way of a couple of Lions efforts in the opening exchanges

Tattenhoe had Jack Holt to thank for keeping the score at 0-0, brilliantly saving low to his left to deny the Lions from 15 yards.

Indy King produced a brilliant block to stop Lions shot from six yards.

the hosts were close again, they deployed on the left, crossed for Lions forward to twist away from Olli Nield, but his shot was tame and easily gathered by Jack Holt.

Tattenhoe Reds had been pedestrian during the opening 10mins, there were signs of life as Gonzalo Garcia combined with Gavin Marange before Taiven Hudson escaped Lions defender to fire a right-footed shot a yard wide of the far post.

A tame Lions shot that Jack Holt comfortably gathered was the best Newport Pagnell could muster.

Tatttenhoe Reds took advantage of a slow start from Lions as Gavin Marange had two early opportunities to break the deadlock

The home side spent much of the second period keeping Tattenhoe at bay as the Reds pressed for a for the goal.

The lively Gavin Marange tested Lions keeper with a low shot, but the keeper did well to get down to his left to push the ball away.

Tattenhoe launched a fast break and worked the ball across goal but Luke Warren shot smacked the top of the bar after taking a deflection.

It looked as if the game would remain goalless after a series of wasted chances, but Gavin Marange converted with 10 minutes remaining

Tattenhoe Reds dominance eventually told, and they took the lead. Gonzalo Garcia kept the attack alive on the edge of Lions penalty area, teeing up Taiven Hudson. The Englishmen played the ball into the penalty area before finding Gavin Marange, who let the ball run across his body before producing a powerful finish, he continued his excellent record against the Lions. 12 goals in 6 games .

A second goal was proving elusive, and there were signs that Lions were a little nervous at the back while the lead remained as the slenderest of margins.

Lions could have drawn level in last couple of minutes but they was denied by a crucial tackle by Tattenhoe defender Olli Nield.

Man of the Match: Taiven Hudson In a complete Tattenhoe performance, Hudson transformation this season was perhaps best summed up with his performance against Lions, where he picked up an assist, came close to a goal and put in a number of quality crosses - the kind of deliveries you would have been proud of.

He drew more fouls than anyone else on the pitch and gave Lions defence a torrid time,
