On 28 March 2026, Tenisons III travelled to THE CLUB HOUSE on Pixham Lane, Dorking, Surrey, to face Dorkinians 6th in a league away fixture that kicked off at 2:15pm. The visitors emerged with a commanding 3-0 victory, shutting out their opponents and securing all three points in a well-controlled display.

Tenisons III lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, a setup designed to balance defensive solidity with attacking fluidity. Mike C guarded the goal, supported by a back four consisting of Sam Gleeson at right back, Garth Foley and Jeremy Barton as central defenders, and Sean Smith on the left. The double pivot in midfield featured George Woodger and debutant Jack Turner, tasked with breaking up play and distributing the ball forward. Ahead of them, the attacking trio comprised Sahr Gbembo on the right, Luke Hinds in the central attacking midfield role, and Matthew Sunday on the left, all supporting the lone striker, Melvin Osadolor. This formation aimed to provide width and creativity while maintaining a strong defensive base. Nicky Joseph was named as the sole substitute.

The match began with Tenisons III asserting control, but an early tactical change came in the 30th minute when Nicky Joseph replaced striker Melvin Osadolor, signalling a strategic adjustment. However, at the beginning of the second half, on the 45th minute mark, Osadolor was reintroduced to the pitch, coming on for right attacking midfielder Sahr Gbembo, which slightly reshuffled the attacking line.

The first half ended goalless, with Tenisons III patiently probing the Dorkinians’ defence but unable to break through. After the interval, another substitution occurred at 55 minutes, as Sahr Gbembo returned to the right attacking midfield position, replacing Matthew Sunday on the left, indicating a tactical tweak to inject fresh energy and creativity.

The breakthrough came shortly after, in the 59th minute, when Gbembo capitalised on an assist from Osadolor to open the scoring. This goal lifted the visitors’ spirits and allowed them to take control of the game. Tenisons III continued to press, and their dominance was rewarded again in the 72nd minute when Gbembo scored his second, this time set up by a precise delivery from central defender Jeremy Barton, demonstrating the team’s threat from set-pieces.

Shortly after, at 74 minutes, Matthew Sunday was brought back on for Osadolor, restoring the left attacking midfielder to the field and maintaining the attacking impetus. The visitors sealed their victory in the 85th minute when right back Sam Gleeson found the net from out wide with a cross shot, assisted by Luke Hinds, adding a third goal and effectively putting the game beyond doubt.

In the closing stages, another substitution saw Osadolor return once more at 88 minutes, replacing Nicky Joseph, as Tenisons III looked to maintain their attacking threat until the final whistle. Throughout the match, Tenisons III demonstrated tactical flexibility, while their defence remained resolute to keep a clean sheet against the Dorkinians 6th.

This comprehensive 3-0 triumph on the road will boost Tenisons III’s confidence and league standing, reflecting a well-executed game plan and effective squad utilisation.
