The Fountain FC travelled to Lintz Cricket Club on 16 July 2026 to face Burnopfield Sun Inn First in a tournament away match that kicked off at 7:00pm.

The Fountain FC lined up in a 4-2-1-3 formation, deploying Callum Collins in between the sticks, one of four keepers Anth had at his disposal. A back four of Jonny Thirlaway at right back, Lewis Sullivan and Gary Booth as central defenders, and Nathan Sterling on the left. In midfield, Ian Johnstone and Joe Currie held the deeper roles, tasked with breaking up play and distributing the ball. Ahead of them, Lewis Currie operated as the attacking midfielder, linking midfield and attack. The front three consisted of Rowan Latimer on the right, Dylan Saleh as the central striker, and Scott Thompson on the left, all expected to provide width, pace, and goal threat. The substitutes named were Aston Wray, Similoluwa Afilaka, David Sowunmi, Brandon Fitzgerald, and Andy Gowland.

At the 35 minute mark, the Fountain were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Sun's box, Rowan Latimer stepped up to take it, but when the ref blew the whistle, Rowan fires the ball far over the crossbar, keeping the score at 3-0. Just before the halftime whistle, The Fountain were defending a freekick, swung in and headered across the box. Lewis Sullivan goes to overhead kick the ball clear. Only to crack Scott Thompson straight in the face, forcing a halftime change.

At half-time, The Fountain FC held a commanding advantage, and the second half began with a flurry of substitutions. Callum Collins was replaced in goal by Aston Wray for tactical reasons, while Scott Thompson was forced off injured, making way for Similoluwa Afilaka. Joe Currie was substituted by David Sowunmi, Nathan Sterling made way for Brandon Fitzgerald, and Jonny Thirlaway was replaced by Andy Gowland shortly after the hour mark.

The changes did not disrupt The Fountain FC’s rhythm. In fact, Similoluwa Afilaka made an immediate impact, scoring twice in quick succession. Both goals came from well-worked team moves, with Rowan Latimer providing the assists via short passes in the 60th and 70th minutes. Afilaka’s clinical finishing with his right foot showcased his sharpness and composure in front of goal. But not all were so clinical in front of net. The ball was once again squared across the face of goal into Lewis Currie's feet, who somehow managed to put the ball wide of the post from 3 yards out.
