The Fountain FC faced a daunting challenge away at Belle Vue Stadium, Consett, on 30 August 2026, kicking off at 10:00am against Consett Steel Club First in a league match.

The Fountain FC lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, aiming to balance defensive solidity with attacking creativity. Andy Gowland took his place in goal, protected by a back four consisting of Tony Storey at right back, Dan Cave and Lewis Sullivan as central defenders, and Nathan Sterling covering the left-back position. In midfield, Ian Johnstone and Lewis Currie operated as the two holding central midfielders tasked with breaking up play and distributing the ball. However, the Fountain FC’s misfortune continued in the 75th minute when an own goal was conceded, when a shot was deflected off Rowan Latimer’s head, fizzing past Gowland who stood ready for the save in an unfortunate moment of the game, further increasing the Steel Club's tally. The visitors’ defensive struggles were highlighted once more as Nathan Sterling was substituted off injured in the 80th minute, with Lewis Sullivan returning to the field.

Steel Club rounded off their dominant performance with a final tap-in goal after a save by the keeper fell into the path of the striker in the 83rd minute, sealing a comprehensive 6-0 victory. Despite the heavy defeat, Dan Cave’s efforts in central defence stood out, earning him the man of the match accolade for The Fountain FC.
