Away friendly match played on 26 June 2011.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

A game of 2 halves, which seems to be our style. We were fired up from the whistle but it did not take long for the lack of confidence from last season to kick in, shacky straight away and on the back foot with individual mistakes and rushed balls being played keeping us pinned in our half. We conceded early and the looks said it all, silence creeped into the team. Then Tino made a run and was bought down in the area, penalty! things were looking up, Colin Holland slotted home to make it 1-1. Then came the misses Luke James should of had a couple for us and it seemed to be heading for 1 of those days that we all know to well. The next half hour was a shambles, defensive errors and a team playing to deep went in at half time 4-1 down. The team were argueing between them selves, which showed we had fight still in us, with Johns team talk and advice at half time we went back onto the pitch for 45mins with something to prove. The crowed was behind us with Cockroach leading the cheering with his pom poms, and it did not take long for us to see a glimmer of hope, Fred striking a fierce shot into the bottom left hand corner making the score 4-2. The defence pulled together and pushed the midfield on, we were attacking for once, putting the oppersition under pressure, we were a team changed, growing in confidence, which showed in Luke James one on one which he cooly slotted home to make it 4-3. Game on! Even Chris Corke forgot where the corner flags were and rifled a shot from outside the box against the crossbar, we had Kings Utd on the back foot and when Luke James got bought down in the box we had our 2nd penalty, Colin Holland under pressure to bring the game level, calmly hit the ball in the bottom right hand corner. 4-4. With minutes to go we were a split team weather to hold for a draw or go for the win, well Nicky Lamb clearly wanted the win when his half volley seem to hit every player on the pitch before somehow finding the net! Boys and girls we were now winning 5-4 a sentance that has long been lost and it felt good. Every player grew in the 2nd half and even though there is improvements to be made and players were missing we showed how to fight! Final score 5-4 to THE GROSVENOR F.C.
