So the first game of the new season has come around for The Halfway House now playing in division 1,

Hallow village FC were first up for the House and a tough away fixture in the warm sunshine to start proceedings.

Baz decided to go with the same formation that we finished with last season with of a 442 narrow diamond,

The House got underway with great energy and pressed Hallow right up the pitch, with Steve and Calv causing the village defence all sorts of problems aerially early on, the first moment of real significance came when big Sammy slipped when about to clear a scuffed cross from the hallow winger and the ball rolled against his arm and the referee gave them a penalty, justice however was done as they missed it hitting the post and the danger was cleared, shortly after Steve got bundled to the floor in the Hallow box after turning the defender and the referee gave the Halfway House their first penalty of the game, tommy tugs stepped up and was unlucky to see his effort clip the outside of the post and go wide. The House stepped up the intensity and then with about ten minutes to go in the half Brocky put in a great ball into the box which Steve flicked on for Dave to volley home from close range making it 1-0 .

Half time came and went and early in the second half Hallow equalized after a succession well delivered corners, Halfway House kept their heads up and continued to battle hard winning the ball all over the pitch , a goal was coming for Halfway it was only a matter of time and after Andy made surging run from right back all the way into the Hallow box he cut inside and was scythed down by the Village defender for Halfway’s second penalty of the game, Jase came all the way up the pitch to take it and dispatched it powerfully into the bottom corner with ten minutes of the game to play. We closed out the game comfortably and even could have had a third goal in the dying minutes,

All in all a very good team performance and a fantastic win to start the new campaign
